Alcatraz
Chapter 1

"Is the prisoner secure?" The golden clad veteran Elite asked. "Yes Excellency, though four of our kin were lost, His armor is still under analysis." The rookie blue Elite replied. The veteran nodded, deep in thought. The prison blast doors squealed open to reveal palm trees, shrubs, vast grassy areas, and several watch towers bearing large search lights. A wing of Banshees flew overhead, monitoring the prisoner island. A large metal bridge stretched off to the main land, where once a great city of Men thrived. The Elite scowled at the "primitive" structures. The dawn for the human race would never come......

Plasma torpedoes and lasers tore into the human fleet attempting to retake the planet Gadious. Pelican drop ships departed towards the war torn planet. Gadious was the last of the Inner Colonies; if it fell...Reach was next. Military forces were getting pulverized on the surface, while the fleet was embarrassed with the huge losses, while the Covenant suffered a mere eight ships maximum.
Staff Sergeant Jarred Connell was rattled with his squad as the pelican sped through the atmosphere. The three other drop craft were overtaken by swarms of the scarab-like Seraphs. Jarred looked out the aft view screen to see the UNSC fleet begin to crumble, most ships followed Cole Protocol and jumped at a random vector—others were forced to self destruct for the wounds. Soon, the UNSC fleet in system was destroyed, Life Pods skimmed into the atmosphere, and even a few HEV pods, but all else was dead.

The Staff Sergeant looked at his assembled group of survivors. It included: 6 marines, 9 ODSTs, and 3 pilots. None of the humans' weapons had survived the crash, all Jarred had was a combat knife and captured plasma pistol. The others had a similar set, save Locklear, who had managed to slice an Elite for its plasma rifle and needler. "All right marines, its time to get moving and see if we can get on the offensive, our target is a prison facility coded as Alcatraz." The Sarge said.
The humans trudged through snow and water and finally reached a crash site. It lay on grid thirty two by twenty three. It was a lifeboat, bodies strewn about it. Jarred would have passed on, save the supplies inside. "Locklear, get everybody an assault rifle—Jones you take the S2." Connell ordered to the two men. Jarred walked down the narrow corridor and retrieved the M6D from the pilot's holster. It would come in handy in the corridors of the prison...they needed to bust out some of the survivors or die trying, if they didn't...they were already dead. Connell wrenched an M90 close assault shotgun from the dead hands of the team Sergeant. "Let's move out boys, we got all we could from this hunk of crap." The three pilots chose to carry stolen plasma rifles for their light weight and no need for ammo, the marines mostly carried the standard MA5B, Connell carried the shotgun and Jones carrying the S2 AM sniper rifle, with Gerick policing the M19 SSM launcher.

Meanwhile in the space front the last human held UNSC ship exploded, taking one enemy frigate with it. Field Master Galas 'Ultazee stood on the bridge of a captured UNSC cruiser. Its AI had already been flat lined, as was the NAV computer, but the cruiser had been overtaken before the last of Cole Protocol had taken effect. Two black armored Elite warriors threw the crew members onto the floor. Several marines were shoved in as well. "Do you know these men?" Galas asked the Captain. "Private Carlson, Lieutenant Peters, Private Cordova, and Sergeant Perez." The Captain stated, slipping the marines a "be bold" look. The gold armored Elite nodded and nodded to his kin. They drew plasma pistols and executed three of the men in one swift motion. Peters, though, they left alive. Captain Black winced but not for the aliens to see. Peters stood but one of the Elites gave him a harsh whack in the small of his back. Peters crumbled but stood again. The black clad alien leveled its plasma rifle to his forehead. "Now...." Ultazee mused, "this campaign for the planet—why? What are you trying to accomplish....or protect?" Black was silent. "Were there any survivors that could have left the ship?" Galas asked. "No." Black lied. "I see." He replied.

The Field Master said something in the Covenant tongue and gaited out of the doorway of the bridge. The commanding black Elite slammed a fist into his other open hand repeatedly. Peters received a slug to the mouth. Then the human whipped out a M6D pistol. The Elite whirled his head around to see his rifle out of reach. Peters smirked and fired two rounds to the center of its skull. The other alien reached for a sword buckled at its belt. Peters held down the trigger and an automatic blast of bullets riddled the warrior, spraying black blood to the wall...the creature crumbled and died. Peters relieved the veterans of their plasma pistols, tossing the two of them to the Captain. Michael Peters then picked up the plasma rifle. Black nodded to the marine and followed him out. Black noticed the crewmen had been murdered as well. Peters led him to an elevator that led to the Captain's shuttle. The Covenant hadn't been able to get in...so maybe there was some resistance. The elevator slid to a stop and the two survivors exited. Three marines crouched about the shuttle, MA5B assault rifle aimed at the doorway. The Corporal stood and saluted, "Good to see you alive Skip!" he said. "But I suggest we get the heck out of here ASAP." The Captain nodded. The interior of the shuttle had a row on either side of three seats, the cockpit had two seats. The shuttle had two wings at an angle, with the third jetting out from the top, the cockpit hung forward, the glass was thick and tinted, and the armour was titanium-A. Peters slid into the copilot seat and Black took pilot, the other marines slid in too. The shuttle activated its most effective system just then. After stealing a few camouflage generators, the UNSC had improved its standard 'prowler' stealth effect.
The ship slipped off into space and approached Gadious from the last known ejection of a life pod—grid thirty two by twenty three...
