Ahlainga Legend: Death of a Hierach, Birth of a Heretic (Revised)
Date: 6 December 2006, 8:02 pm

AN: This is "revised" because the series was under the wrong name.

Chapter One
"Human missiles to starboard side!" The weapons officer yelled over the deafening alarms and explosions. "Classification: Archer missiles, number unknown!"
"Lock onto them! I want the plasma turrets ready to fire five cycles ago!" The High Commander screamed back to him.
"Excellency! Their main cannon is preparing to fire!" Another Sangheili shouted at him. "We're sitting ducks!"
"Wegrefee'! Evasive manoeuvres! Get us out of that Cruiser's line of fire! And do not lose that Ark!" The Blessing of Enlightment lurched as it turned, unseating the Commander and many officers while the exterior plasma turrets began to whir. Seconds later the ship tumbled again from Archer explosions and the bridge crew were in disarray. Third came the MAC round as it punched a hole halfway through the huge vessel.
"Report!"
"We've lost decks eight through eleven and plasma turrets fifteen, twenty-four, twenty-six and thirty through forty-two." The young officer named Rogrefee' replied.
"What's the status on our pulse lasers?" The Commander bellowed.
"Most were destroyed from the first salvo of Human blasts, along with the shields," Rogrefee' answered again. "Charge, only twenty-one percent."
"Damn this!" The commanding officer cursed out loud. "Divert all power to our engines and get us the hell out of here while we still can. I want those human ships off our radar for good, and I want that Ark in range for transmission or boarding. Now!" He added with enthusiasm. There was a chorus of:
"Yes Excellency," as the crew manned their stations again.
'Truth,' he was thinking. 'What the hell are you doing?'

The Prophet of Truth sat back, suspended roughly a metre above the cold, dark floor of The Ark with Brutes surrounding him. Honour Guards and bridge crew paced round, so he paid no attention. He began become relaxed with all these disgusting beasts around him.
'Soon, he thought, they'll all be dead, and I can rest again, it was hard work, but soon I will have secured an easy living for generations of Prophets to come. Then I can stop using that senseless name too. Blind Covenant idiots.'
"Holy Prophet of Truth," an extremely gruff voice called. "Excellency!" Truth suddenly looked around and saw a Brute striding up to him.
"What is it?" He grumbled to the monster as it bowed its furry head.
"Word is sent from Halo, Holy One." It growled. "Tarturas is dead." Truth's thoughts whirred.
'Perfect, that's another one out of the way.'
"Who killed him, Brute." Truth sneered at the thing, adding extra emphasis on the last word while managing to keep it quiet from the other Brutes.
"It was the two humans, Excellency. The ones he took. It seems the Arbiter freed them."
"From Tarturas?"
"Yes, Excellency."
"Leave me," Truth ordered and the Brute slumped away.
'Well, well Arbiter, you proved to be very useful after all. Now see if you can travel halfway across the galaxy to stop me! Because nobody else is going to.'
"Holy Prophet!" Another Brute called to him.
"What now?!" He snarled at it.
"There is an Elite controlled ship closing in Holy One."
"Lock onto their frequency and send a transmission."
"Yes, Holy Hierarch."
'It seems I stand corrected.'

"High Commander," A Sangheili officer exclaimed, his voice lowered after the escape from the UNSC ships. "The Ark is slowing down. There's a transmission coming through."
"On screen!" The White-armoured warrior barked. The officer touched some holographic buttons and dials as one of the view-screens clicked off and Truth's brown, puny head appeared with a crackle.
"There you are Commander," he snarled calmly as his face wrinkled. "Give it up," he continued. "The Sangheili are obsolete. These… Brutes protect me now, and we shall cast you away to Halo if we have to."
"Do not desecrate the Holy ring's name, Prophet." The Commander shot back at him. "It is clear that your heresy was always the source of your behaviour, and it is now clear which path you have chosen." Truth laughed before the Sangheili spoke again. "You may mock me, but my ashes shall be sent to hell before you start the Great Journey with those monsters." There was a cheer from the bridge crew before the Prophet replied:
"Great Journey!? Ha! You don't even know what your talking about anymore 'Gorperee," he cackled. "But, the part you ashes being sent to hell. That's easy enough."
"Gorperee?" The smiling Sangheili asked. "That's not me." Truth's face started to watch him. Soon they were gazing endlessly into each other's empty, intimidating eyes. "I'm 'Happeree."
