Project Contingency - a Fan-made Halo Game
Getting on a plane in an hour... but before I go, a quick note. We got word from the team at Project Contingency about a fan-made Halo game built on the CryEngine 3 engine. It's not a mod for Crysis - it's a new look at the Halo universe through the lens of a different engine. There's a trailer to watch, a website, and a gallery of their work, if you want to catch up. Halo Custom Edition: Takedown - Project Lawson
MatthewDratt has released Takedown: Project Lawson, a single-player map for Halo: Custom Edition. You can find a trailer here (it's a year old), a ViDoc showing off some of the characters you'll interact with (fun!), the actual download from the HaloCE3 website, or more info (screens, videos, discussion, etc) from HaloMaps.org. Champions Pull Themselves Out Of The Pit
343 Industries revealed today some pretty exciting news for Halo 4 fans, announcing that there will be a new "Champions Bundle" released with 2 new maps, including Pitfall (a remake of The Pit) and new map Vertigo. Also included will be a very cool new gametype called Ricochet, as well as (woo hoo!) new armors, armor skins, and weapon skins. Halo Elysium Trailer Mashup
TheSparbiter (or UncookedMoa, if you prefer) has mashed up the audio from the second Elysium trailer (the movie's coming out in early August, and looks like a lot of fun) with Halo footage - he liked the Halo feel of the movie's promotional materials so far. Clarification from MS about upcoming Halo content
Last Spartan pointed us to an article at IGN in which Phil Spencer (MGS VP) discusses the E3 trailer shown at the Microsoft Press Conference, as well as plans for Halo 2 Anniversary. (Quick summary: the trailer wasn't showing off the next title, but rather was laying out some ground rules for ALL future titles... and while Spencer didn't confirm Halo 2 Anniversary, he didn't reject it, either.) Anoj's All You Need To Know: E3 Halo Trailer
Anoj posted another 'All You Need to Know' about Halo 5 - he spends a bunch of time talking about why it's not labeled as Halo 5 (for what it's worth, I mentioned the '5' visible in the clouds above the 'Halo' to a 343 dev, and was told that it was, indeed, coincidental), then he walks through the rest of the trailer. Recently, Matthew Dratt let us know about Halo CE3, an upcoming live streamed show based on Halo Custom Edition - they will be showing off brand-new content from the Halo Custom Edition community. The crackpipe makes its triumphant return
Dogiojoe shot us a note about a video posted by Halo5Follower - it puts together a bunch of evidence gathered from a HUGE variety of Halo fiction sources (games, books, videos, you name it) to speculate about what we're seeing in the Xbox One Halo trailer released last week. Halo Goes Next-Gen
During the Microsoft E3 press conference Master Chief made a surprise appearance. Although a specific Halo title wasn't mentioned, Bonnie Ross of 343 Industries announced that Halo on Xbox One would feature cloud support, dedicated servers and run at 60fps. Go watch the trailer! What GT wants from the MC
GameTrailers released a video yesterday describing what they want from Halo as the next generation Xbox looms near. It's actually a pretty solid look at various needs in the franchise as a whole, and whether you agree or disagree with some of the points brought up, one can appreciate it's thoroughness considering the medium. Halo 4 Commissioning Trailer in LEGO
