GDC Vault Frees Up Bungie Design Talks
The 2010 Game Developer Conference contained a talk by Jaime Griesemer in which he described why the time between shots for the Halo 3 sniper rifle was increased from 0.5 to 0.7 seconds - and right after the event, Bungie released his slides in their Publications archive. (Unfortunately, that archive seems to be offline at this point; we've put up a local copy of the file, but we can't reproduce the entire archive.) The wonderful thing is, Gamasutra has made the video of that talk free - go watch it! (They've also posted a followup, presented at GDC 2011, called 'Design in Detail: Tuning the Muzzle Velocity of the Plasma Rifle Bolt on Legendary Difficulty Across the Halo Franchise' - watch both!) Update: I completely forgot about the halo.bungie.net subdomain; kornman00 reminded me, and clarified that the Publications archive IS, in fact, still online at B.net. Yay! (Louis Wu 20:44:09 UTC)

HALOcapped Ep 6 - Plasma Pistols, Autosentry CTF
MixMaker1 stopped in with word of another episode of HALOcapped - his team attempted to win a game of CTF on Skyline using nothing but Plasma Pistols and Autosentries. Their self-imposed rules said no melees - Mix was much better than his teammates at sticking to this. Even with a few beatdowns, though, their win with these rules is really impressive - and fun to watch! Check it out. (Louis Wu 16:03:43 UTC)

Wait... plasma rifle too?
At the beginning of this week, IGN posted a three-part interview (one | two | three) with Jason Jones - the focus was Destiny, but there was plenty of Halo content in there... after all, Halo was a huge part of Bungie's reality during the past 15 years. In the first segment, Jones looks back at the Halo 1 pistol, and what actually happened to make it such a superweapon at the last possible moment... and it reminded kornman00 of some of the digging he'd done in the game's code. UrDoingItWrong! Episode 1: Worst Loadout Ever
Halo Council's Clicked occasionally tries user-suggested challenges in Matchmaking; he calls the series 'UrDoingItWrong!' The latest installment (and first Halo 4 episode) is called 'Worst Loadout Ever'. Purple Plasma - launching soon!

The Return of A Different Way to Campaign
It seems that Halo Waypoint recently reawakened one of its most enjoyable video series, 'A Different Way to Campaign' - and nobody told me! There are four episodes available at both Halo Waypoint and their YouTube channel:
- Setting the Table (Vehicle shenanigans on Scarabs)
- The Takedown (Tips for Phantom Destruction)
- Off The Beaten Path (Taking vehicles where they don't go)
- The Pedestrian (Why drive when you can walk?)
In addition to these four, there's one on Halo Waypoint's website that hasn't yet made the leap: Anti-Air Reciprocity suggests fun things to do with big green balls of plasma. Awesome to see these returned! Thanks to Dax, at NeoGAF, for noticing. (Louis Wu 15:02:24 UTC)

What's Long And Purple With Sticky Blue Balls?
Surprisingly enough, this post has nothing to do with Hedgemony, so your first guess was wrong. Instead, Halo Waypoint added the most recent addition to the ordnance tech in the Waypoint Intel by bringing us a closer look at the Covenant Plasma Launcher.
