March 12, 2007 Link to this post Froman Productions - Up and Running AnTi PRO stopped by yesterday to announce the launching of Froman Productions, a new machinima website. As our submission guidelines suggest, we no longer announce website launches on our front page - unless there's something there we can point people to... and in this case, there is. They actually created a number of vids before announcing the launch, so that they'd have more than a shell and a 'Coming Soon!' to show you - swing by and grab what sounds good to you. Go give 'em a read! (Louis Wu 17:31:45 UTC)

They've put up some new machinima mirrors, some classic Mike Miller content and a new Podcast. Go grab the podcast for your commute to work and/or school. Try not to watch the movies while driving, though. (KP 08:53:50 UTC)

February 16, 2007 Link to this post An Endless Abyss-esque Imagination GamingTV has put up an interview with Machine Enema's SodaGoD - go read how he got into Halo machinima in the first place, and what drives him to make great vids. Thanks, trigger119. (Louis Wu 21:00:51 UTC)
February 13, 2007 Link to this post Fan Music - En Masse We got email from Erik "P3PP3RM4N" Fikkert yesterday - he had a bunch of fan music he'd created, wanted to know how to get it out to our audience. Well, that's easy, right? We just post it, and tell you to go listen! Some of these pieces are really slick - I'd suggest starting up a forum thread if you're interested in working with Erik on a machinima project; Halo vids are always better with original music! (Louis Wu 16:29:47 UTC)
February 11, 2007 Link to this post Machines of War, Episode 1 Wow. We got word from SodaGod that he'd released the first episode of a new machinima series, Machines of War. It is the story of Spartan 104, cursed to survive when his comrades do not. This was filmed in Halo 2 Campaign, and the imagery is spectacular; he does an astounding job of getting the perfect shot for the moment. 9:25 long, 77.6 mb in WMP9 format, 78.7 mb in QuickTime format. Absolutely worth a download. Update: trigger119 lets us know that GamingTV is mirroring the WMP9, and has encoded their own h.264 QuickTime (54.7 mb). Great filesize - but be warned, it's pretty processor-intensive; it stutters badly on my dual 2GHz G5. If your processor is beefy, it's probably great.

February 8, 2007 Link to this post Machinima for Dummies teaser Andras Ostrom is working on a new piece of Halo machinima called 'Machinima for Dummies' - you can watch a teaser trailer for it in WMP9 format (22.7 mb) or QuickTime format (17.3 mb). Looks to be a fun project! (Louis Wu 13:17:26 UTC)
February 5, 2007 Link to this post Fireteam Bravo Trailer QuickTactical pointed out a trailer for an upcoming machinima project, 'Fireteam Bravo'. His forum post contains links to a WMP9 version and a streaming YouTube version - and I liked it enough that we're hosting a mirror of the WMP9, as well as a QuickTime version. Short, sweet, nice action, nice camerawork. About 16 mb. Check it out! (Louis Wu 21:53:09 UTC)
February 5, 2007 Link to this post How to make Machinima in Halo 2 Part 1 Machinima.com is putting together some tips and tricks for making machinima using Halo 2 - Part 1, now available at YouTube, shows how to get rid of the camerman's weapon, and how to get rid of the HUD. Great start! Thanks, Adam Kovic. (Louis Wu 21:50:37 UTC)
February 5, 2007 Link to this post Halo: Halos in Space the Movie A couple of weeks ago, we mentioned a pretty funny presentation of a Halo fanfic. Today, Turtle Mann stopped by our forum to let us know that SnowGlobe Pro has turned that story into a piece of Halo machinima. Should bring a smile or two to your face... (Louis Wu 21:46:29 UTC)
February 5, 2007 Link to this post PIE Chapter 3 SodaGod has released PIE: Chapter 3, the third installment of one of the better machinima projects I've seen to date. Watch it carefully - it might confuse you. It's worth the time, though - cinematography, storyline, voice acting - it's all top-notch. 11+ minutes, almost 100 mb. It's available in WMP9 format (either from us or from Machine-Enema mirrors), or in QuickTime format (here only, for now). While you're waiting for the Rule of Three Registration to open (no, it's not open yet, and no, we don't know when the Halo3.com registration page will go live), grab this and give it a viewing. (Louis Wu 15:21:24 UTC)
January 27, 2007 Link to this post Halo: War Journal 'Last Dance' zech ray found a decent piece of machinima linked from the Codex Series forums - it's a trailer for Halo: War Journal 'Last Dance', and it's hosted at YouTube. It tells the story of a heroic last stand by 300 Spartans against an overwhelming Covenant force. If you've got an extra 5 minutes this Saturday, take a look! (Louis Wu 22:17:38 UTC)
January 23, 2007 Link to this post The Assault trigger119 sent word of a new machinima he's hosting over at GamingTV.org. It's called The Assault, and he found it because Laird (of SvF and Halo: Unyielding) did some 3D work for it. The voice acting could use some work... and so could the choreography. But the added touches (a communication screen, a Pelican, etc) are really nicely done. The downloadable versions at GTV are about 30 mb, depending on flavor, or you can watch it at YouTube. (Louis Wu 15:35:45 UTC)
January 18, 2007 Link to this post D is for Dead Ibeechu sat down to create a Halo machinima piece that parodied 'sub-par machinima'. He was shooting for 'so bad it's good'; I'm not sure he got there, but it's definitely pretty bad. Cheesy story + cheesy dialogue + cheesy cliches... mmm, the power of cheese. He's put up a 41 mb WMP9 version, and Funkmon added a 37 mb QuickTime to mythica.org. Scary stuff! (Louis Wu 12:22:47 UTC)
January 12, 2007 Link to this post Jungle Trigonometry 3 sodaGod has added another video to his Jungle Trigonometry series - Jungle Trigonometry 3. Couple his fantastic camera work with funny skits, and you get a vid absolutely worth downloading. This one has a number of 'Master Chief is Kind of a Jerk' segments... and a fantastic longer parody of zombie movies. There's plenty of other stuff, too. All in all, it's almost 13 minutes long, and weighs in at over 100 mb. You can grab it at GamingTV.org, or snag one of our mirrors (WMP9 is 108 mb, QuickTime is 114 mb). Swinging by the Machine Enema website points out another pair of links for the WMP9 version. (I'm pretty sure that right now, ours is the only QuickTime version available, though GTV should have a copy up soon.) For those who say that Halo machinima is dying - sodaGod should be a clear example that you're totally and utterly wrong. The man makes fantastic vids. (Thanks to trigger119 for the heads-up on this one.)

January 11, 2007 Link to this post More Awards for the Machinimators Deomitrus wrote to point out a press release from the Sentinel Machinima Awards - this is a new awards project intended to replace the 'Rockets on Prisoner' Awards. (Well, 'replace' is probably a bad word, since Funkmon has said he intends to continue that particular tradition... but the idea is certainly understandable; the Sentinel Machinima Awards will honor the best and brightest machinima for the year.) The full press release can be read at the SMA website. (Louis Wu 18:59:31 UTC)
January 7, 2007 Link to this post ODST Test Laird whipped up a test video showing an ODST ready for use in machinima. It's tiny (about 800k, in either WMP9 format or QuickTime - it's only 12 seconds long, with no sound) - but the potential is fantastic. Check it out. (Louis Wu 14:53:03 UTC)
