Shellheads
The Rooster Teeth crew whipped up a special video to be shown before a screening of Iron Man 2 at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin; Burnie just made the link public, so the world can see it. What's better than the RvB players plus Iron Man? Not a whole lot... (Louis Wu 01:01:29 UTC)

Gamers for Giving 2010
Remember Zach Wigal, the guy who went and started an entire charity organization when his school wouldn't let him hold a Halo tournament there? The group he founded - Gamers Outreach Foundation - is back with another Gamers for Giving event on May 1, in Ann Arbor - with money raised to go to Mott Children's Hospital. Swing by MyFoxDetroit for details! (Louis Wu 14:05:58 UTC)

The Video Onslaught Commences... Now
GiantBomb has posted a bunch of footage (35 minutes!) they grabbed during the press event they attended last week - this is the first real (full-game-by-randoms) gameplay we've seen. They start off playing Network Defense, but move into other gametypes, and there's commentary from a couple of attendees and some people asking him questions. This is FULL of interesting information! Thanks, DEEP NNN. (The embargo on video footage ends today, so it's likely we're going to see quite a bit.) (Louis Wu 14:00:23 UTC)

More press
dCon V found two more Kotaku articles: there's a piece discussing the concept of classes, as they might apply to Reach, and there's a gallery of screenshots (these are available in lots of places now). Update: And one more - Gamespot has posted their hands-on (thanks, GhaleonEB). (Louis Wu 15:37:24 UTC)

Custom Lightmaps in Halo CE
In other Halo CE news, we got word of Precipice - it's one of the first maps to benefit from custom lightmaps. The team has managed to import Tool's default lightmaps into 3ds max - and can now render some gorgeous maps that are much better than what you can get out of Tool. The bar continues to be raised!Update: Siliconmaster482, the mapmaker for Precipice, clarified that though custom lightmaps are PLANNED for the map, the screenshots visible now are using the lower-quality Tool-generated maps. Oops! (Louis Wu 10:57:32 UTC)

Out of Reach, Chapter 3
The next chapter of 'Out of Reach' (the wish list for the game being created on Kombo.com - we mentioned Chapters 1 and 2 Thursday) went live yesterday - it focuses on starting weapons. Most of the discussion is about the Assault Rifle, with some pistol speculation tossed in. Give it a read! Coming later today: Chapter 4, Power Weapons. (Louis Wu 10:56:34 UTC)

Voices in your Head
In a masterful piece of storytelling, urk takes us back to the early days of Halo's development, and the evolution of the Flood - where the idea came from, what it started as, how it looked before being fleshed out (so to speak). It's a fascinating read. And it comes with some great concept art that you may not have seen before. Go read! (Louis Wu 12:36:29 UTC)
