Read the details for yourself! (Nightly net games... hmm, wonder how hard it would be to break into Bungie headquarters?) (Louis Wu 00:01:00 UTC) March 28, 2000 Thanks to Moose-Factory, who posted on our forum about a new GameSpot article/poll on the "Best Action Games of 2000". Currently, with just under 2000 votes, Halo trails TF2 by 8%. See if you can fix that! (The article starts here.) (Louis Wu 01:39:39 UTC) March 27, 2000 Seen on Total Halo: A couple of tidbits from gaming mags. PC Gamer says they have new screens, but are waiting to publish... and InciteGames says Bungie has asked them to remove the Incite movie because "development direction on the game has changed and our movie (evidently) no longer accurately represents the game." Nice snag, fAT1! Pax. (Crux Fidelis 19:52:34 UTC) March 25, 2000 We've added a Magazine Shots section to our Screenshots page to feature shots that only appear in magazine previews. More to come. (Wirehead 12:49:48 UTC) March 23, 2000 A small mystery cleared up! Back in January, we reported that a small player nametag ("Husk") had been identified on a screenshot. Today, on our forums, Matt "my ears are burning" Soell identified that tag as a bot designator. Who says we can't get answers to our questions? (Louis Wu 20:10:38 UTC) March 21, 2000 Congrats to The Core, who scored (from Bungie) a full-sized version of the screenshot we posted a couple of days ago. They've graciously allowed us to mirror it... you'll find it on our Screenshots page. Does this game make you drool, or what? (Louis Wu 17:44:15 UTC) March 19, 2000 New Halo screenshot!!! ![]() Major kudos to Hamish Sinclair, maintainer of the Marathon's Story and Pathways Into Darkness pages, who sent us in a Halo screenshot to celebrate our newly opened Halo FAQ. We've never seen it before but he claims it is old. Check out what he has to say. (Wirehead 13:29:41 UTC) March 15, 2000 Nice post on our forums from eva05 concerning the parallels between the Culture novel "Consider Phlebas" by Iain M. Banks and Halo. For more details on Halo and the Culture check out DEHc-3 HALO and the page that started it all Iain M. Banks' "Culture" references in Bungie's Halo. Pax. (Crux Fidelis 19:08:34 UTC) March 11, 2000 Kudos to Haloplayers Network, who came online with a bang tonight, unveiling a never-before-seen screenshot of the Sniper Rifle. Lots of work went into this site... take a look! (Louis Wu 00:47:32 UTC) March 10, 2000 Haloplayers network to open with exclusive Halo screenshot of the Sniper Rifle! According to a forum post HaloPlayers.com have a never seen before screenshot from Bungie and will be showcasing this at their grand opening today at 7pm EST, 12am GMT. Be there! (Wirehead 18:35:36 UTC) February 29, 2000 As noted by the good folks at Halo World there is another German Halo review this time at Top of Games. No new screenshots but the English translation is on the way. (Wirehead 16:38:21 UTC) February 24, 2000 As reported on IMG 3D Action Planet have a Halo preview. No new screenshots but a few new slants to the story and some tech info. (Louis Wu 05:21:58 UTC) February 9, 2000 Dennis Taylor sends word of a John Carmack interview over at Thresh's Firing Squad. In the section titled (strangely enough) "id is not a publisher", Carmack has this to say about Halo:
Do you agree with his assessment of Bungie's place in the gaming industry? Sound off! (Louis Wu 18:58:29 UTC) February 5, 2000 The February edition of Edge gaming magazine has a small snippet on Halo and a bigger piece on Oni. No new info or screenshots though. (Wirehead 14:49:21 UTC) January 24, 2000 You can call me Husk! Think 640 x 512 is big screenshot size? Well we got news for you! The German GameStar magazine site has a Halo preview with two awesome Halo screenshots at 1279 x 1024. This is the real stuff folks. You can make out that luscious detail... such as player name tags!!! Can't read German? Then head on over to our translated version kindly provided by Harry Al-Shakarchi. Some new stuff in there! (Wirehead 19:43:04 UTC) January 24, 2000 Say hello to Husk! Bungie's latest Halo marine screenshot has been digitially enhanced using Jjaro(?) technology to reveal a Halo player name tag! The player sports the name "husk". Could this be the way of identifying players in net games? No this isn't a fake as will be revealed later today in a HBO exclusive. (Wirehead 16:31:04 UTC) January 23, 2000 Oops, we missed one. PowerMan sends word that a new clan called U.S.C.M. has just started up, as well. Page seems a bit strange... maybe it's just my browser. (Louis Wu 02:02:13 UTC) January 23, 2000 Myndreach sends word that The Order of the Sword, a new Halo clan, has started up. Go check 'em out! (Louis Wu 05:00:07 UTC) January 20, 2000 The Fan Fiction section is burgeoning. We've even started to receive pieces via email. Go read what your cohorts are writing! (Louis Wu 00:54:44 UTC) January 15, 2000 Bad day to step away from the screen... Battleground:Halo opens its doors. Lookin' good! (They're also mirroring the Day 4 bTV halo footage.) (Louis Wu 22:12:16 UTC) January 14, 2000 Harry "when I'm not translating, I'm grabbing screens" Al-Shakarchi has compiled a few screenshots from the Day 4 footage, with comments... check 'em out, see if the 6 megs is worth it! Pax. (Crux Fidelis 07:47:14 UTC) January 9, 2000 Woo-hoo! MacWorld is over, but I won't be home for two more days. In the meantime, though, check out the bTV archives if you missed Saturday's live broadcast. An amazing couple of minutes of Halo footage... the harpoon gun (Justin Garcia sent in a screenshot, but you can't actually see the gun), some very interesting-looking droids, astounding lighting from the flashlight, and more! Check it out. (Apologies for the sparsity of resources... more to come once I get back!) (Louis Wu 01:27:23 UTC) January 7, 2000 David Rodgerson of Halo Central reports that they have just posted 14 screenshots from today's bTV coverage. Check'em out.
