Spartan Ops Season 1 Guide

Masterz1337 let us know that there's another Halo Legendary guide on YouTube - Hokiebird has been working through Halo 2. It's got a lot of detail, and multiple strategies for difficult encounters. The most recent chapter is Mission 11: Uprising - but if you want to start at the beginning of Halo 2, Mission 1 is here.

Harvester Meet Scarab, Scarab meet Harvester

Halo 4 Screenshot Extractor - on the web
We've mentioned screenshot extractors in the past - but I've never seen a web-based version before. Armor Watcher has a web page that will take a saved screenshot file (that you've grabbed off your Xbox with a USB drive) and yank out the pic for your use in other places. Pretty slick! Oh! You Pretty Thing
FyreWulff uploaded hundreds of native 720p screen caps of Halo 4's campaign cinematics and levels. It is a nice reminder of how fantastic the art, cinematography and lighting is in Halo 4. Flying a Pelican on Reclaimer
Whoa. Did you know that you can fly a pelican in Reclaimer? (Not Shutdown, where you START in a Pelican... the level BEFORE that. The one with the Mammoth.) Nowise10 discovered this last night, and filmed it in tutorial form. (I also had no idea it had a secondary fire mode... but that's probably just me being clueless.) Pretty awesome stuff! Hunting Achievements - or just fun
More AchievementHunter content for you: we'll start with a Let's Play on the Crimson Maps (Episode 2, to be specific). 25 minutes of AH crew abusing each other, both verbally and in-game. Pretty fun! A look at what almost was
Funky. A Halo 4 player named Lord Zedd discovered a couple of Armor Abilities that were pulled from normal play... but without disabling the actual code. He's activated these on Harvest (via modding), and you can see how they work in a video from Clicked. Nowise10, who brought this to the attention of NeoGAF, took a bunch of screenshots if you don't have time for a video. The first ability is 'Teleport' - much like what the Promethean Knights can do in Campaign. The second is 'Hacker' - it lets you turn off the Armor Ability of your enemy. Check 'em out!

A glorious look back
uberfoop went back to Halo 3: ODST's campaign and found quite a bit worth appreciating. His post is dripping with cool screenshots and fun videos - nostalgia is growing! (You may have missed some of the clever little bits Bungie put into this game, the first time through; uberfoop will help you see them now.) I may have to run through that campaign again soon... 4-player System Link Coop... for Halo CE

Crimson Map Pack issues for Season Pass owners
If you bought a season pass for the Crimson Map Pack, you might have already noticed that you cannot download your maps yet. Xbox LIVE Marketplace is working on the problem - keep an eye on the Service Status page for updates. Update: 2pm EST - problem seems to be fixed; if your Xbox was on, shut it down and restart. If you head to the War Games Lobby, you should see the Crimson DLC list appearing, and selecting it will give you a chance to download the maps. (Louis Wu 17:26:01 UTC)

2012 VGAs - Now with More Halo
Spike's Video Game Awards were last night - you can watch the entire 2-hour extravaganza on their website now. If your time is limited, here's the key stuff: you can watch the new Spartan Ops trailer by starting at around 1:42:30 (if you care about the intro, or 1:43:10 if you don't). You can also watch it on Kotaku, if you'd rather. Other timestamps worth checking out: 13:45, 38:30. (If you need to save time, we've archived these two bits here and here.) In terms of awards, Halo 4 took home Best Xbox 360 Game and Best Graphics. Not too shabby!
