In 2005, Jamie98s created a series of videos he called 'Oh So Beautiful', looking at the scenery of Halo 2 (I | II | III | IV) - and then in 2008, he created one for Halo 3. Well, according to urk, he's back - with a Halo 1 edition. You can watch it on YouTube (at the Bungie.net link), or you can download it from us - 104 mb, in either WMP9 or QuickTime formats. April 22, 2009 Link to this post Earth (a la Halo 3)
CMNeir created a video that celebrates Earth Day 2009 with some great footage from the Halo 3 Earth-based maps. Reminiscent of the 'Oh So Beautiful' series from Jamie98s - except it's Earth-only. Great stuff! Thanks to the Bungie Blog for the heads-up. (Louis Wu 17:23:43 UTC)
September 4, 2008 Link to this post Oh So Beautiful - Halo 3 Edition You might remember the video series from Jamie98s entitled 'Oh So Beautiful', in which he took a close look at the natural wonders in Halo 2... he's back with a version updated to Halo 3, and you can watch it streaming on his website, or download it from ours (WMP9 format is 135 mb, QuickTime format is 121 mb). It's all campaign footage, and it runs about eight and a half minutes. He even created a series of wallpapers from some of the shots seen in the video - go prettify your desktop, after you've watched the flick! (Louis Wu 21:16:33 UTC)
May 19, 2007 Link to this post Oh So Betaful trigger119 pointed out a new movie he's hosting at GamingTV.org - it was created by ClearviewPro, and follows the pattern of Jamie98s' 'Oh So Beautiful' series... except with the Halo 3 Beta. That is - he's collected a bunch of footage of cool tidbits you can find around the new maps - pretty scenery, really detailed props - and set it to a Jack Johnson song. pretty nice! (Maybe the next one will lose the zoom bar on the left...) Go grab it in WMP9 or QuickTime formats. (Louis Wu 21:43:25 UTC)
October 30, 2006 Link to this post New Mombasa - A Different View Double News Postage - RVideo also submitted a new piece of work to the MPRRS recently. The first time through, it seems that most of the reviewers didn't get what he was doing. He overhauled the entire piece, incorporating some of the advice they'd given - and though some STILL didn't get it the second time through, enough liked it that it passed. This vid is in the genre - sort of - of Jamie98s's 'Oh So Beautiful' vids; it's a look at Halo from a perspective you don't normally get. (He uses a modded Xbox for the most spectacular stuff.) There are sweeping vistas above the city of New Mombasa, seat-level views from speeding warthogs, stop-motion action sequences. I love it. In a relatively unprecedented move, I'm going to host the first version he submitted, too, because there were a couple of sequences he cut for the passing version which I found exceedingly cool. (The view from the Scorpion's gunner seat at the end of the bridge is one that stands out.) This might not be for everybody - some reviewers totally missed the concept, and marked it down for being boring, or having no real action, or no plot. (Both versions have a similar goal - to give you a view of the city of New Mombasa that you don't get in-game - but the second version did a much better job of tightening in on the concept. However, if you really don't WANT to see another view of the city, you won't find much for you in either version.) Final Version (Niven Edit): WMP9 (21.8 mb) | QT (24.8 mb) Original Version (Lonely Scarab Edit): WMP9 (41.7 mb) | QT (46.8 mb) In any case - I was pretty impressed with it, both as a final product and as an evolution; give it a look, with an open mind... you might be too! February 13, 2006 Link to this post Chaos on the Creek Wow. We fixed the MPRRS upload problem, and in short order 6 movies entered the system. The first one in was the first one out - successfully. jamie98s (previously known primarily for his 'Oh So Beautiful' series) created 'Chaos on the Creek', a story of two factions that decide they can't live together. Cinematography is awesome - watch this one for the camerawork alone, even if you don't like the story. (Which is pretty good in its own right.) Grab it in WMP9 format (29.1 mb) or QuickTime format (28.3 mb). Awesomeness. (Louis Wu 01:52:39 UTC)
February 3, 2006 Link to this post Oh So Beautiful 4 Jamie98s has made a series of videos detailing the beauty of Halo's scenery. (Check our news archives if you missed the first three.) Yesterday, he submitted a new one - Oh So Beautiful 4 sticks with multiplayer maps... gives you a new perspective on the killing fields we spend so much time in. The MPRRS reviewers loved this one. Grab it in WMP9 format (62 mb) or QuickTime format (56 mb). (Louis Wu 16:33:24 UTC)
July 26, 2005 Link to this post Oh So Beautiful III My goodness - I'm not sure what happened, but it looks like I've taken the last 18 hours off, with respect to this website. Sorry! First up today - a movie that passed the MPRRS a couple of days ago; a third installment of Jamie98s' Oh So Beautiful series. This one (Oh So Beautiful III) takes a 7:22 stroll through the single-player maps, looking for gorgeous scenery - and we all know, there's plenty to find! You can grab this in WMP9 format (25.2 mb) or QuickTime format (26.3 mb). Enjoy! (Louis Wu 13:51:08 UTC)
July 10, 2005 Link to this post Oh So Beautiful II A couple of days ago, we posted Jamie98s' 'Oh So Beautiful', an ode to the gorgeous scenery in Halo 2 multiplayer maps. He's done it again - 'Oh So Beautiful II' looks at the pretty stuff in the newest maps, again with Jack Johnson providing the soundtrack. WMP9 (9 mb) or QuickTime (10.3 mb) - thanks to the reviewers with the MPRRS for getting this through so fast! (The entire queue is cleared, in fact; we've got a few movies to release in the next couple of days.) (Louis Wu 22:41:43 UTC)
July 8, 2005 Link to this post Oh So Beautiful Jamie98s whipped up a nice little video (WMP9, 10.6 mb | QuickTime, 9 mb) showing some of the pretty stuff in Halo 2's multiplayer maps. No plot - just pretty. The Jack Johnson soundtrack is a perfect fit, too. There haven't been a lot of films passing the MPRRS recently - this is one. Go watch. (Louis Wu 14:43:41 UTC)
