Halo CMT Promo Vid
The Halo Custom Mapping Team has released a promo video, giving you a sneak peek at the content of their upcoming release, 'Halo CE: CMT Edition'. (This will be available on June 25.) It's basically a reworkng of the entire Halo (1) single-player game... all 10 levels. Check Wave of Lag's forum post for a link to the promo vid (20.1 mb, WMP9 format). (Louis Wu 14:42:25 UTC)

CMT Progress
darthbob pointed out a thread on the Gearbox Forums with some pretty intriguing pictures - a Halo CE mod with lots of tweaks to emulate eyecandy in the Halo 3 trailer. Check it out! (Louis Wu 18:27:14 UTC)

Merecatfish points out that The Halo 2 Conversion Map Team (CMT for short) has released Coagulation, their version of the Halo 2 map for Halo CE - there's a thread devoted to the subject over at the Gearbox forums. There's a video, created by KOD_Legend, showing you what it looks like (65 mb, WMP9 format, really long) - they did some great work. Check it out! (Louis Wu 16:03:04 UTC)

More details on the MTV special
We mentioned this a couple of weeks ago, but the official press release came out yesterday, so here's the word from the top about the upcoming MTV special:

New York, NY - October 27, 2004 - MTV: Music Television today announced that "Making the Video Game: Halo 2" will premiere on MTV on Friday, November 5th at 11:00pm ET/PT, and MTV2 on Saturday, November 6th at 9:00pm ET.  The special will give viewers an unprecedented inside look at the most anticipated video game of 2004.  "Making the Video Game: Halo 2" will go behind the scenes to discover the secrets, the storylines, and the graphics that will keep every last obsessive Halo fan glued to their TV.  The special will also include interviews with the game developers, celebrity Halo fans, and the bands involved in the new soundtrack including Incubus and Hoobastank.  Both the game and soundtrack hit stores on November 9th.

"The MTV audience is the gaming audience," said John Shea, EVP, Sponsorship Development and Integrated Marketing, MTV, VH1, and CMT.  "Halo 2 is destined to be one of the biggest video games of the season and we're excited to give fans a behind the scenes look."

The press release also contained the first official (as far as I know) notice that Halo sales have passed the 5 million mark. Nice! (Louis Wu 10:33:29 UTC)

Movies, movies, movies
It's Friday - I guess it must be Movie day again. Merecatfish has made another PSA for Halo CE - you can snag it off his Halocity site. (WMP9 format, 320x240, 3:51, 5.6 mb) 45 Sion has made a pretty foul-mouthed vid called 'SouthPark MC Class' - WMP9 format, 640x480, 57 seconds, 5.6 mb... thanks, c0ld vengeance. Legend has made a teaser for an upcoming 'Halo Revolutions' film; you can find it on Halo Orbit (thanks, Oliver Sopienski). I'm not sure what it has to do with Revolutions at this point... but the sniping's pretty good. (MPEG1 format, 320x240, 1:10, 18.8 mb) Team EP has put together a teaser for a new map they're building (still in Alpha) - Ndugu has snowboards (with all the grinding and tricks that suggests), plus snowball launchers, pickaxes, and more. WMP9 format, 640x480, 2:29, 9.8 mb. A thread about the release can be found on the Gearbox forums. And [CHP] member Vinx has put together a long (9:25) video of gameplay on the Halo CE map New Mombasa. (It's in WMP9 format, 640x480, and weighs in at 56 mb downloadable.) Thanks to HaloPlanet for these last two. And to people who've submitted movies to US for hosting - please be patient. The Going Nowhere Fast contest releases have hit us pretty hard, bandwidth-wise. We'll be in better shape come August 1. Update: oops, one more from our own forum - scabbronumber1 posted Game Over, a 9.6 mb WMP9 that's 4:01 worth of mostly Blood Gulch tricks and gameplay. Thanks to Majid "X" Manzarpour who points out on our forums that there are now 20000+ signatures at http://www.game-over.net/halo/. We have to agree with Majid it's a "landmark figure". Go sign up if you haven't already. Bungie are paying close attention to it. Let them know we want Halo for the PC and Mac. (Crux Fidelis 14:01:34 UTC)
