ODST Helmet to be worn in MotoGP WC in Valencia
KP pointed us to a Motorcycle News page (and GrimBrother One pointed us to a Kotaku page pointing to the same MN page) discussing a helmet that will be worn by Jorge Lorenzo as he competes in the 2009 MotoGP World Championship race in Valencia. It's said to 'replicate [the helmet] worn by the main character' in Halo 3: ODST - I'm not sure I'd go that far, but it DOES have a lot of Halo stuff on it. Take a look! (Louis Wu 02:30:13 UTC)

Hearting Marty
GrimBrother One noticed that Kotaku has a preview of the upcoming last.fm app on Xbox Live - looks like it's going to have a dedicated Marty O'Donnell channel! (Louis Wu 18:41:43 UTC)

Ad Lunam
GrimBrother One noticed an article at Kotaku about Moonshot Games, a development company formed by ex-Bungie employees who all have extensive experience on Halo games. Good luck - we'll be keeping an eye on the team, to see what comes out! (Louis Wu 17:41:46 UTC)

Does this say anything about the Jets?
Master Chief showed up at the Saints/Jets game this weekend - and you KNOW what people were making jokes about... thanks, GrimBrother One. (Louis Wu 13:48:33 UTC)

Where's my wheelbarrow?
GrimBrother One noticed a small tidbit at Kotaku - Stephen Totilo pointed out that Joe Staten described the size of the Halo Bible (the backstory document(s) that help Bungie and its friends keep track of the Halo universe) as 12-13 inches "if it was all printed out and stacked up". (For reference, a standard 500-sheet ream of paper is 2 inches tall.) (Louis Wu 12:54:27 UTC)

Halo 3 Live-Action Extended Version
ConK3rS let us know that Halo.fr found the extended version of the Halo 3: ODST live-action trailer - it's got extra footage compared to the original 90 second version (and some scenes are slightly different, as well). Take a look! Update: some on our forum believe this might be an early, unfinished version; there seems to be much that is missing. The 'official' release should be coming sometime today; hopefully we'll know more soon. Update 2 (8 September 09, 11:30am UTC): We've been asked by MS to pull the link to this unfinished version. The finished version debuted last night on Spike TV, and should be available some time this morning on GameTrailers.com. GrimBrother One found a taped-off-the-screen version, and ElusiveEagle519 pointed out another IGN-released version that has been cut very differently (though with the same content). When the high-quality final makes it on to GT, we'll update this post again. Update 3: 2good4u2 pointed out that this last one is probably fan-made, based on the soundtrack. Okay, no more updates until the real one is live. (Louis Wu 19:06:05 UTC)

The next step...
What's next for Bungie, after Halo: Reach? They're not talking yet, but according to Kotaku, they're close to signing a new IP deal with an unnamed publisher. Microsoft again? Someone new? I guess we'll find out soon! Thanks, GrimBrother One. (Louis Wu 15:54:00 UTC)

Making Halo Wars look like Halo

A look at Reach, from IGN
Brooks Kuester was the first to let us know about an article at IGN entitled 'What to Expect from Halo: Reach' (though a thread started up not long afterward on our forum, thanks to GrimBrother One). The article contains a nice summary of what we know about Reach from all sources (books, games, trailers), and picks apart the trailer for as much detail as can be found. (Did you notice the drifting Spartan behind the damaged UNSC frigate?) Go check it out! (Louis Wu 13:18:57 UTC)

Take away the horizon, you're left with Halo
Odd, but cool - there's an article written by Jack Shulze, discussing his influences for the Here & There project, over at his firm's website. The project presents urban spaces in a combination of third-person overhead and first-person plan views - and the end result, a horizonless projection, looks a lot like a ringworld. It was, indeed, partly inspired by Halo - and Halo shows up in other parts of the discussion. Interestng article! Thanks to GrimBrother One, who found it at Kotaku. (Louis Wu 13:44:59 UTC)

Bungie's not done with Halo
Another interesting tidbit from Allen Murray's talk at GDC... Murray said

"Halo 3 took two and a half years to make, and we're still working on it," Murray said. "We'll probably be working on it for two more years."

Most of us had assumed that Bungie was moving on from Halo after ODST was released... but apparently not? Thanks to GrimBrother One for noticing this. Update: Sketchfactor stopped by our forums with a small clarification:

I'd expand on Allen's comment a bit by adding that while we're certainly not planning to walk away from Halo 3, it doesn't necessarily mean we have plans to continue producing new additional DLC, etc.. beyond the release of ODST. We have a team who works on Halo 3 all the time in terms of updating matchmaking, investigating potential exploits and swinging the banhammer as needed. If anything I'd say we're excited to look to the community to carry the torch for new Halo 3 content via Forge and Sandbox further down the road. We've already seen some great stuff and the Mythic maps aren't even widely available yet.

While that doesn't specifically say "we're not working on any Halo-related product releases after ODST", it certainly implies it. (Louis Wu 13:05:01 UTC)
