The Last Sleeper - with ties to Halo and Bungie
So yesterday, GrimBrother One stopped in with a Kotaku link about Kendall Davis, who was working on Halo 4 until he quit to create a comic game. What started as a story with only passing relevance to HBO became more interesting when Hitmonchan did a little digging and learned that the game has ties to Bungie's Aerospace. Guess who's back, back again.
What better way to cap off a day of exciting Halo news than to envelop yourself in the whimsical prose of Thy Great One, Frank O'Connor? The Joy of LAN
The writeups from the All's Well LAN last weekend have begun to roll in - I guess it took folks the week to recover. I already mentioned nof's paean in the post mentioning the photo galleries - but you absolutely MUST watch Mig's dramatic reading of it. It's amazing. Also, hellmitre dropped in with a heartfelt reminiscence - definitely worth a read (Update: or a watch). Weekly Update's Got Your Mind Covered
Today's Weekly Update doesn't disappoint in the awesome factor, especially when it comes to the All-Stars collection. Some amazing stuff in there. Of Chief Concern
SFX-360 put out a pretty neat article that poses the question: What If Microsoft Never Had Halo? It raises some interesting points to think about in the grand scheme of things. Digging in the Couch Cushions, Round One
Okay, I'm slowly getting there. Currently only a week behind! Here's some of the fun stuff I found along the way:
- Nosolee took a look at some Latin you can find in Halo 3's Bestarium - I LOVE it when we come across Halo fans with relatively obscure skills, and I love it even more when they dig out tidbits Bungie left hidden for us to find.
- RC Master posted a technique which will let you skip the most difficult section of New Alexandria, almost completely. Slick!
- SIX min WHISTLE and InnerRayg teamed up on information from Toyfair 2011 - lots of new stuff coming for Halo fans in the months ahead! Links to writeups and pictures in this post, this post, and this post. Oh, and this post.
- GrimBrother One posted a link to some new Halo goodies coming from MegaBloks. (Grim, you posted on the forum, but didn't front-page it? Goodness me.)
- Elnea continued her tradition of creating RvB-themed valentines cards - always worth looking at! (Might have been more useful on Valentines Day... but hey, we're not perfect.)
- Terminal Velocity created a video full of Reach Campaign fun - vehicle launching, getting out of play areas, etc. Pretty long - but lots of good stuff! Check out Meta Stability. And thanks to Muzza for letting us know about it.
- excowboy83 found a page full of... well, go look. I'd tell you about it, but my head's still spinning.
There's lots more that I let lie - after all, we want to give you SOME incentive for hanging out on our forum - and as I mentioned, I've still got a week's worth of catching up to do. But this list should help fill some idle time this afternoon! (Louis Wu 19:36:27 UTC)

Surfacing... and HAFT
Not too long ago, a groundhog stuck his head out of a hole in northern Pennsylvania, and predicted that spring was near. I feel a lot like that groundhog - been buried for far too long, but warmer weather is coming. GrimBrother One's done an admirable job keeping this site online recently, but there are certainly a number of cool Halo-related tidbits that have slipped under our radar. I'm currently in the process of catching up on the last few thousand forum posts, looking for some of those tidbits - I'll probably start posting them tomorrow. In the meantime, why don't you go spend some time with the last few episodes of Halo Action Figure Theater? We've been remiss in letting you know about recent updates - February has already seen Snow What (groanworthy dialogue), Blink (Dr. Who crossovers), and Afterglow (warning: scantily-clad dolls). Harvest's Hardest
Apologies to GrimBrother One - he agreed to keep HBO updated this weekend, but was then left with a server that was offline for most of Saturday. (Apologies to you, too, Gentle Reader. Servers aren't supposed to be offline.) In my quick perusal of our forum, I noticed a few tidbits that might be worth your time. A few new vids at Bungie.net today:
- Bagel put together "Northern Neighbors", a community montage - gameplay comes from a bunch of Vancouverites. What's a video roundup without a montage?
- Anoj is back with Halo: Reach Top 10 Splatters, the fifth in his Reach Top 10 series. Roadkill!
- Engineering Win w/Hutch is a show that'll help you hone your skills - this is multiplayer gameplay with commentary. Watch it and get better!
- The Upright Citizens Brigade hosted a production called 'Halo: Reach The Show' - awesome way to mix stuff you love! (If you were there, you got to see Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk, as well...)

The news is Grim
You might have noticed that the newsposts today have a new name attached to them... a grateful welcome to GrimBrother One, who's stepped on board as our freshest newshound. (Heck, he was doing a lot of the work from the cheap seats already... we figured it was only fair to move him up on stage.) What does this mean for you, the Halo fan reading this? Not a huge amount, actually - except that if you're planning on emailing us news, mail it to halo@bungie.org, rather than directly to, say, me - because when I'm not around, news in my inbox just sits there. Noble Map Pack
If a cool Forge contest isn't enough for you, check out the Noble Map Pack - a downloadable map pack containing three new maps (one small, one large, one Invasion). This will go on sale on November 30 (77 days after Halo: Reach's release), for the now-standard price of 800 MS Points.
