Hot Head.
The new One One Se7en is part of a 3-strip series; I'm sure it was supposed to happen in a single week, and I'm sure the fact that it's starting on a Wednesday instead of a Monday is entirely my fault... but you'll just have to maintain your sense of continuity over the weekend, sorry. Dolour Signs
Today's One One Se7en looks at Bungie's underlying motives... I think Cortana's pretty sharp, when it comes right down to it. (Louis Wu 16:59:15 UTC)

More readable funnays
Stuntmutt pointed out that some of the newest One One Se7ens (no, you can't see 'em yet) had better looking type than the older ones - and I realized that this was the fault of a setting on my computer. (It's a long story.) Bottom line: I've gone back and regenerated ALL the One One Se7ens; type is better (more readable) across the board. Sorry for the inconvenience! (Louis Wu 00:49:29 UTC)

Episode 17 of Stuntmutt's One One Se7en is up and ready for reading. For the 3 of you still holding out for the PC version of Halo, there are spoilers in this one. For the rest of you... giggle. (Louis Wu 17:33:03 UTC)

Frogblast Schmogblast.
It's not quite Thursday, UTC... so I'm still not late posting today's One One Se7en. This one's sort of special... (Louis Wu 22:03:06 UTC)

The Wegg?
Some of Stuntmutt's One One Se7en episodes are turned in early, but involve topical (at the time of creation) subjects; I worried a bit that the joke would be lost by the time the strip was aired. Today's strip is a perfect example... it involves the Megg easter egg, which was found over a month ago. Luckily, however, it showed up on our forum again this weekend... fortuitous. Take a look - it should make you grin. (Louis Wu 16:15:16 UTC)

Hacked.
DOH! I've got to set up some sort of email notification system to remind me about this puppy... but the next episode of One One Se7en is online (it's yesterday's, actually). I gotta say... these bring a smile to my face. If they do the same to you, drop Stuntmutt some mail. (Louis Wu 13:23:58 UTC)

Gah! We got behind because of E3 -I'm really sorry. There are three new episodes of One One Se7en for your viewing pleasure. (These are the episodes for last Wednesday, last Friday, and today.) I'll try and make sure this doesn't happen again. (Louis Wu 14:13:26 UTC)

One One Se7en, Episode 2 - and a comic status update
We said he'd be adding one every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday... and he is. Stuntmutt's second comic ('Splinter Sell') goes live today. It's likely that we'll be adding a Comics subsection to HBO to house this, Warbow's Calvin and Halo, Hack Trio's... thing, and a new one by Mathjis Buster (and anything else that comes along) pretty soon. (Louis Wu 18:20:56 UTC)

One One Se7en Debuts
Stuntmutt has begun work on a new comic strip - one that we're hosting here. It's called One One Se7en, and it stars your very own Master Chief, in all his MS Paint glory. We'll be releasing new comics every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, unless something comes up. To start with, go check out 'Mission Um... Possible'. (Louis Wu 13:27:50 UTC)

Action Figures pics from Toyfare
Stuntmutt found a page (182K) in Toyfare magazine (issue 69) showing Joy Ride's Halo action figures. We'd put this in the Press Scans section... but I can't find any useable online info on Toyfare. (One of these days, we'll post the collection of pictures from last month's Toy Fair in New York... but this is what we have for now.) (Louis Wu 17:39:38 UTC)

Edge mentions modded Xboxes, and Halo
Stuntmutt points out that Halo Hacking gets a mention in the latest issue of Edge magazine (number 122, April 2003) - and so does HBO. (They point to the mirror link for the very first hacking film. Hopefully, visitors reading that will explore and discover the OTHER hacking movies... they should be in the Movies database within the hour.) Update: poena.dare points out that today is the 8-year anniversary of Bungie modding, in general. (Well, sort of - Mia was available before Pfhorte was, but that's a story for another day.) Check Bungie Sightings for details. (Louis Wu 16:55:17 UTC)

Blood Gulch Ballet
Okay, I'm probably gonna get some flak for this one, because of all the movies we've declined to host recently... but hear me out. Rory Hartley and Bill Copeland put together a movie they called 'Blood Gulch Ballet.' It's three and a half minutes of Blood Gulch gameplay, set to classical music. (I recognize the piece, but can't name it.) It weighs in at 15.4 mb; it's smaller than it was when it was submitted, but I didn't reduce the quality very much. (It wasn't great to begin with.) What tipped the balance for me were three things:

  • There are some really nice moves in here
  • We haven't posted movies recently, so Mythica's not heavily loaded
  • It was dedicated to Brian Morden (sue me, I'm sentimental)

Grab the QuickTime-encoded movie at Mythica.org, or the Psyjnir Complex Hotline server. Update: Thanks to Ninja on Fire and Stuntmutt, who both pointed out that the music is Rimsky-Korsakov's 'Flight of the Bumblebee'. (Appropriate, no?) If you're ever in Portland, Oregon, look for Rimsky-Korsakoffee's, the best coffee house in the northwest. (I miss it.) (Louis Wu 16:31:12 UTC)

Photo Story now viewable by all
A few days ago, we posted a note about a 'Photo Story' Microsoft had put together about Halo 2. Some of you could watch it, others couldn't. Thanks to Stuntmutt and Djoey154, we now have pictures of all the slides... check 'em out in our Miscellaneous section. (Louis Wu 01:33:21 UTC)

What's in a Voice?
Back in August, Mr.Poke discovered a pretty cool mp3 of some of Jen Taylor's voice acting credits. It's pretty fun to hear 'Cortana' selling body wash and chicken strips. It never occurred to me, or to anyone else who communicated with me, to look for other Halo voice actors... but today Stuntmutt found a similar file for Steve Downes, the voice of the Master Chief. That got me to do a bit of digging... and armed with The Names Behind The Voices, and the archives of Voicebank.net and The Talent Group, you can find clips from a large number of Halo voice actors. Moviemakers... start your engines! (Louis Wu 14:21:30 UTC)
