Silver Stars/Purple Hearts Trailer
Sevenar Productions and Panda Productions (groups that make up a large chunk of the Sponsors vs Freeloaders crew) have teamed up to create a new, fusion machinima; Silver Stars/Purple Hearts is a blend of Halo CE and EA's The Sims 2, and tells the story of Project ATHENA, a nearly all-woman team of enhanced SPARTANS. (If you've watched any of the last few episodes of Sponsors vs Freeloaders, you've met four of these women already.) Cinematic quality is very, very high, as Halo machinima goes; the trailer is 1:45 long, and does an awesome job of drawing you in. Available in WMP9 format (12.3 mb) from the SSPH server, a QuickTime format version should be up by tomorrow ... check this one out. You won't regret it. Update: A mirror of the WMP9 version, as well as a streaming QT version, can be found at machinima.com. (Louis Wu 07:03:50 UTC)

Art of Theo Prins Updated
We've got two new images for you today from Theo Prins - "Into the Blue" is an interpretation of a Helljumper (funky mask!), and "Master Dodge" came from the ending of the E3 2003 trailer - originally it was going to contain the ghost the MC jumped out of, but Theo changed his mind. (Interesting, to me, how close this is to the Return to Sender cutscene - totally different situation, but same dramatic pose; I never noticed before that Bungie did this.) Check 'em out - this guy is GOOD. (Louis Wu 15:32:41 UTC)

UnReal and Halzred, together
The next step in montages - now we have trailers for upcoming montages at the beginning. I'm just waiting for the animated popcorn and candy clip... over at Halo2Forum.com, you can download UnReal's first montage (lots of sniping, lots of sticking), and it comes with a trailer for Halzred's Montage 3 tacked onto the front. The whole thing weighs in at 94 mb, WMP9 format. While you're there, you can grab a copy of MADDOG's Montage Trailer, a mix of Halo and Halo 2 footage, weighing in at just under 38 mb (WMP9 format). Thanks, Z. (Louis Wu 12:56:58 UTC)

More montages at H2F
Z sends word of another pair of montages at Halo2Forum.com - one is a trailer - Crypty teases for his upcoming montage vid with very nice editing reminiscent of Dan Chosich's Framework vid from a couple of years ago (15.8 mb), and OscarMayerNinja's Montage 4 is five minutes of effect-laden sticks and snipes (63.3 mb). Both are WMP9 format. Go watch. (Louis Wu 10:49:01 UTC)

Sponsors vs Freeloaders Ep 8 Teaser
Sponsors vs Freeloaders Episode 8 will be coming out a bit over a week - but they've posted a teaser to whet your appetite. (If you haven't seen this series, you really should watch the later episodes - the actual storyline kicks off around episode 5, and since then they've been getting better and better.) The trailer is a brief 35 seconds long, and available in WMP9 format (7.2 mb) from one of their servers. If you'd rather watch it in QuickTime, I've re-encoded a copy (6.1 mb). ArcXnuS - Upcoming
A group called Silhouette-Robin Productions recently came to our attention when the trailer for ArcXnuS, the "first full length halo 2 machinima trilogy" (their description), passed our Movie Peer Review Rating System. They weren't looking for hosting, just feedback - it's a short trailer, but the reviewers liked the way it told its story. Go grab a copy from their site! (Louis Wu 13:34:32 UTC)

New vids at Halo2Forum
Three new movies for download over at Halo2Forum.com - two montage trailers, one full montage. ArKiVe's Montage 2 Trailer (19.1 mb) is almost all snipes, with an occasional sticky or beatdown. Titan VIII's Montage 4 Preview (43.7 mb) is heavy on the BR action. And Fyler's First Montage (91.7 mb) is full of all sorts of stuff. All are in WMP9 format. Go watch. Thanks, Z. Project 117: Trailer
Treeskunk Productions, the folks behind 'Outpost: Coagulation' and 'Lethal Tactics', have released a trailer for 'Project 117', an upcoming machinima film that follows the Spartan IIIs, a group hunted by the very people they were created to protect, as they try once again to save humanity. 22.7 mb, WMP9 format. Great camera angles. (Louis Wu 03:32:06 UTC)

There's an official trailer, in both WMP9 and QuickTime formats - go watch! (Louis Wu 07:17:33 UTC)

Lego Halo Movie Trailer available
Dillo pointed out that the teaser for Lego Halo film we mentioned a few days ago is now available for download - 2.3 mb, Real format. It doesn't show much - but it made me want to see the whole thing! The teaser mentioned that the film itself will be out in mid-October; here's hoping they stick to schedule! Lego Halo
Apparently, someone's making a Halo movie... using Lego bricks. You can find details (including pictures and a teaser poster) in this thread on Brickfilms.com - a trailer is coming soon. Thanks, Steve Davies. (Louis Wu 13:14:55 UTC)

Barney Just Wants a Hug
drumyouaway submitted a trailer for Barney Just Wants a Hug to the MPRRS - and though a few people were unhappy with the aspect ratio of some of the footage, it passed the system, and so we're hosting it for you to see. Short, odd... sort of like my kids. WMP9 (7.6 mb) or QuickTime (7.1 mb) formats. (Louis Wu 14:04:54 UTC)

Montages - and high-end gameplay
Lots and lots of movies over at halo2forum.com (which sports a new design, to boot) - Vrbas' Trailer for Montage 4 and S3X0RC1ST's Montage 2 can be downloaded from this thread (both WMP9 formats, 24.6 mb and 104 mb respectively), and a pair of games with top pro players (both in the same vid, WMP9 format, 113 mb) can be snagged from this thread. Good stuff! (Louis Wu 15:04:02 UTC)

MikeMan27 and Nefarious Dan Return: The Trailer
Video number two for the day - this is a teaser trailer for a montage video coming out soon, from Mikeman27 and Nefarious Dan. It was released on our forum last week, but got minimal feedback... so they submitted it to the MPRRS, where it passed. The large frame around the content is actually there on purpose; it's an attempt to keep you from full-screening the vid. (Mike assures me that the final vid will be of higher quality, and won't need this limitation.) Timing's quite good, action is suitably frenzied. 13 mb, in WMP9 or QuickTime formats. (Louis Wu 14:48:15 UTC)

The Fall of Reach Trailer
A number of movies have passed our own Movie Peer Review Rating Service recently; the first is quite small (1:50, just over 5 mb, in both QuickTime and WMP9 formats) - it's a trailer for an upcoming 8-episode machinima based on the novel The Fall of Reach. The project is coming from a British Clan, and their website contains more info about the project (including a call for voice work). The video itself is predominantly cutscene footage, from both Halo and Halo 2, with some nice timing and coordination. Check it out!

Toy Soldiers Trailer Redux
A couple of days ago, we mentioned PumaHog's Toy Soldiers trailer - they've since submitted it to the Movie Peer Review Rating System, and passed. If you haven't seen it, we're now hosting copies - QuickTime (18.4 mb) or WMP9 (18.9 mb). Go watch! (Louis Wu 12:29:44 UTC)

CPL Summer Event footage at GT
3Suns points out some CPL footage available at Gametrailers.com - there's a general clip (with a small amount of Halo footage) and a Halo-specific clip, both from the CPL Summer Event which took place about a month ago in Dallas. Team 3D and Team Exigen (first and second place winners, respectively) talk a little bit about what helped and what didn't. (Louis Wu 13:49:26 UTC)

GT video preview of MMP
Gametrailers has posted a video preview of the Multiplayer Map Pack - nice footage, mostly decent descriptions (Hehe - I liked that Gemini was influenced by 'High Clarity') - but their bottom-line advice: because the maps will be free by the end of August, buying them now is a waste of money. This download is about 40 mb, in QuickTime or WMP9 formats. Thanks, 3Suns. (Louis Wu 16:11:19 UTC)

Video Interview with Marty O'Donnell at GT
A couple of weeks ago, GameTrailers posted video coverage of the Video Games Live kickoff concert in LA - Geary just noticed that there's an interview with Marty O'Donnell from there up now at Gametrailers, as well. (There are a few other interviews, as well, for folks interested in the tour.) Marty mentions a super-secret guitarist who performed on the Soundtrack, with no credit (by choice) - hmm... Halo - the Movie (ShadowX version)
ShadowX submitted a vid to the MPRRS last week, entitled 'Halo The Movie'. It uses Halo 2 cutscene footage, married to dialogue from the Final Fantasy trailer (much as Brian Josselyn did three years ago for the original Halo) - some reviewers felt that it actually impinged on Brian's intellectual property. (I can't accept this - it's game footage and a trailer soundtrack, and the clips that ShadowX used are different than the ones Brian used.) He's done a nice job picking relevant clips, and the vid is quite small (7.7 mb for the WMP9 version, 8.2 mb for the QuickTime version) - so what are you waiting for? Go grab it! Update: We got a rather strange series of emails about this - apparently, this movie WAS made by ShadowX, but was not SUBMITTED by ShadowX. He told me that it WAS inspired (heavily) by Blackstar's film (which, by the way, was re-encoded by Blackstar sometime back, and can be found in its latest form on this page), and that he (ShadowX) would rather be judged by his newer film, which he mentioned here. The only mystery remaining is who is the guy who submitted this movie... and why? (Louis Wu 21:28:05 UTC)

Installation 451
trigger119 wrote to say that a new machinima trailer has been posted at Halomachinima.com - it's for a project called 'Installation 451', and the trailer's nicely done. WMP9 and QuickTime. Go grab a copy! (Louis Wu 12:46:02 UTC)

War of the Species
One film that didn't make it through the MPRRS recently was called 'War of the Species' - most reviewers liked it, but a couple gave it low-enough scores that it didn't clear the passing hurdle. However, one of the reviewers liked it enough to offer hosting on his own - NINJ4, of the HBO Forerunners clan, has made it available on his site. 9.7 mb, WMP9 format. It uses Halo 2 cutscenes from the Cutscene Library combined with a soundtrack from the War of the Worlds trailer - it's different than the one we mentioned here (which is unfortunately no longer available). Nice scene choices, in my opinion. Update: this has now been mirrored by trigger119 at Halomachinima.com. Thanks! Update 2: ShadowX pointed out that his video IS still available - you can find links to copies at GameTrailers in this forum post. Grab it, and compare the two! (Louis Wu 19:51:15 UTC)
