This week in Halo
This week's Halo Bulletin, released yesterday, contains some fun stuff: controller settings for The Master Chief Collection, an update for Halo 4 matchmaking, an update on our own Guilt o' Lantern contest (have you submitted your carving yet? WHY NOT?) and more story goodies from GrimBrother One. (And some nice screenshots.) Go read it - either at the newly revamped Halo Waypoint, or right here in our own Halo Bulletin Archive. (Apologies for the formatting - it'll get better over time.) (Louis Wu 22:27:35 UTC)

A pun, on the forum? Oh, yeah, Grim's back.
GrimBrother One returned to our forum to announce the latest Halo Bulletin - good to see him around! It contains info about next week's reboot of Halo Waypoint, pics of the upcoming Halo-themed ASTRO A50s, details about the Halo-related content available at New York Comic-Con this week, and the continuation of his very own series - "Canon Fodder". This in-depth look at events in the Halo universe is a fantastic resource, both for newcomers to the extended universe and for folks already immersed - there's so much out there it's easy to forget details. (We're also making one small deviation from the original Bulletin in our local version, for the first time: it seems that the screenshots are no longer presented in both full and thumbnail versions in the Bulletin, you have to follow the Fileshare link and download if you want the big version now. For the time being, we're going to continue supplying both, to save you a bunch of extra clicking.) (Louis Wu 16:12:43 UTC)

It's fall in Halo-land
This week's Halo Bulletin contains some nice tidbits: there's a Twitter giveaway, some great story background from (what used to be our own) GrimBrother One, a small FAQ focused on the copy of Halo CE that will appear in the Master Chief Collection next month, and some cool Autumn-themed screenshots. Go read! (As always, there's a copy in our Halo Bulletin Archive. Ours even has large versions of the screenshots.) On our forum, Grizzlei had some comments about this week's content - join the conversation! (Louis Wu 22:56:45 UTC)

From Ibie'shan to Vulture evolution
This week's Halo Bulletin is something of a departure - Bravo's off, so GrimBrother One has jumped in to answer some long-standing fan questions about the Halo canon. Fascinating stuff! (There's also a tidbit about Halo Escalation #10, and some fun DMR screenshots.) As always, there's a local copy in our Halo Bulletin Archive. (Louis Wu 18:57:55 UTC)

Getting the Blood Pumping
Ready to get hyped for the Master Chief Collection? Go watch Beyond Entertainment's Halo: The Return, edited by Snipetality. It's spectacular. Grimbrother One was the first to point this out to us.c (Louis Wu 22:01:17 UTC)

Halo Bulletin 4.10.13
GrimBrother One pointed out that this week's Halo Bulletin is live - there's plenty of Halo goodness to be had, including info on the CSR and Spartan Ops Challenges (as well as tips to help you rank up and win stuff), CSR statistics, new Halo avatar gear, weapon balance details, and Halo 4 DLC sales. There's also a handful of slick Halo 4 screenshots to close out the info dump. A local version is available too. (colindosaj 06:56:52 UTC)

Teasing Next Week's SpOps Reveals
GrimBrother One pointed out a collection of screenshots at the Xbox Press site showing off both cinematic and in-game shots from Spartan Ops Episode 9. A close look at these will give you clues about what's coming - there's already some interesting speculation on our forum! (Louis Wu 15:16:35 UTC)

Halo 4 Free - Winners Announced!
KontrolFreek has posted a list of winners for their Halo 4 Free contest - congrats to all 6! (I'm impressed - four of them are women.) Even better news for folks who DIDN'T win - HBO was the winning community partner, which means that at some point soon, we'll have ANOTHER Halo 4 LE console to give away. w00t! Thanks to GrimBrother One for noticing the announcement - and thanks to everyone who referred us! Keep your eyes peeled for the contest announcement. (There's a discount code listed on that announcement page - you can buy anything in their store for 10% off with it. Go shopping!) (Louis Wu 17:30:43 UTC)

Offscreen footage from NYCC... maybe
Sometimes, I am sad that 3 days with no sleep will force me to take a day off. My hat goes off to GrimBrother One for staying on top of things this week! Lessee what we got... there were a couple of new gameplay vids posted, showing off-screen footage of Ragnarok from NYCC... but at least one (Halo 4 Ragnarok Gameplay, showing off gameplay by Tashi and filmed by Bravo) is already offline - the automated copyright crushers are being a bit overzealous today. (Halo Waypoint's own BTS, mentioned yesterday, has been pulled down 'due to a copyright claim by Microsoft'.) You can still watch HaloGAF at NYCC: Mantis Gameplay (posted by ncsuDuncan) - but I'm not sure for how much longer. (Louis Wu 19:18:26 UTC)

Adorabilicious
343's Kenneth Scott tweeted an image from Legoboy Productions - the Prometheans have been recreated in LEGO! (Blue variants can also be found in his photostream.) Thanks to GrimBrother One for the heads-up (though he should never, ever, EVER use that term for a tweet again). (Louis Wu 16:13:03 UTC)

A Cruel View of CTF, Regicide, and Spartan Ops
Nevin 'CruelLEGACEY' Douglas sent word of two new videos for your aural and visual enjoyment - GrimBrother One (wearing his Waypoint Community Modcast hat, not his HBO beret) interviewed Kevin Grace about Halo 4's CTF and Regicide modes... and CruelLEGACEY put together a video featuring his (and his friends') Spartan Ops playthrough at the show. Go watch! (Louis Wu 17:53:33 UTC)

It was Wednesday - so there's a Bulletin
Tag, I'm it! GrimBrother One is taking a much-deserved break... and I'm back from one. Things are still in a bit of a disarray, but I can at least let you know that the newest Waypoint Halo Bulletin went live on Halo Waypoint last night, providing you with much more information (and a huge collection of visual assets) pertaining to armor specializations. We have, of course, a local version, which might be a bit easier on a slower connection/less powerful processor. Wherever you read it, though... read it! (Louis Wu 15:39:00 UTC)

Greenskull FUD stream continues
A bunch of new content from RUL's Greenskull - yesterday, his interview of Tom Green (who plays Thomas Lasky in Forward Unto Dawn) went live on Halo Waypoint, and right after, he released an impressions video made recently with CruelLEGACEY in Toronto, discussing the high points of the trip to the FUD set they made with GrimBrother One to Vancouver back in May. Go watch both - they're fun! (Louis Wu 11:38:48 UTC)

Forward Unto Dawn - Interview with Anna Popplewell
CruelLEGACEY continues to pour out the Forward Unto Dawn content - latest release is an interview that he, Greenskull, and GrimBrother One conducted with Anna Popplewell, who plays Chyler Silva. Great discussion - get some backstory into what the actors were asked to do to prepare for these roles! (Louis Wu 11:50:03 UTC)

Forward Unto Dawn - Interview with Stewart Hendler

A leak, of sorts... from McFarlane
dogcom stopped by yesterday with some packaging for upcoming McFarlane toys... and the back panel includes pictures of some brand-new enemies we haven't seen yet. If you're staying spoiler-free, do NOT visit this thread. GrimBrother One was kind enough to edit forum subject lines to remove any mention of the new characters... we'd love anyone thinking about speculating to keep in mind that spoilers should NOT go in subject lines. Thanks! (Tom Van Sinden 19:24:04 UTC)

The Scribbler Awakes
Nikko B201 took some advice from our own GrimBrother One, and tried out a fun app called 'Scribbler'. You can check out some of the results in this post... and this one. Pretty cool! (Tom Van Sinden 16:26:14 UTC)

From Lurker to Leader: A Frags to Riches Story
We've mentioned the Lurker to Leader Panel at PAX a couple of times, because our own GrimBrother One was up on stage - but it's not until today that we can give you a link to actually WATCH it for yourself. GrifballHub's Goose Checka (the impetus behind this particular panel in the first place) let us know that the entire hour-long conversation is now up on YouTube. This discussion is near and dear to my heart; its core is all about how fan communities are managed, and how good leaders can help them grow. Every one of the panelists is someone I look up to as an example of fantastic fan leadership, and while I wish I could have been there in person this past Friday, to watch them live, getting to see this video takes away much of the sting. If you're interested in fan communities, and the people who help to shape them, GO WATCH THIS. (Tom Van Sinden 14:18:52 UTC)

Rooster Teeth Goodies from PAX East
PAX East is well underway at this point, and although I can't find video footage of the Community Panel that our own GrimBrother One participated in (yet), there are some interesting clips up on the official PAX Live Stream. The Rooster Teeth crew showed a scene from Season 10 yesterday - if you'd rather see it in its hi-res glory, wait until it's out for real (Memorial Day 2012 is when the season kicks off), but if you're just dying for a taste, the action's pretty hot. There's also a film of the full Rooster Teeth panel (which starts with a trailer for RvB Season 10 - no spoilers here - and also contains the scene mentioned above). Go watch! (Speaking of Rooster Teeth, this tweet from Jack Patillo might excite some of you (thanks, bryan newman) - if you DO watch that scene, you can hear Wood's voice right near the end.) Goodbye, Sweetheart - for your desktop
If you liked that cool 'Goodbye, Sweetheart' image that's currently gracing Bungie's front page, but wanted a larger version... GrimBrother One pointed out a 1080p version. Very cool! (Tom Van Sinden 13:07:30 UTC)

Working at 343 Industries
ncsuDuncan was first with the news (though our own GrimBrother One wasn't too far behind) - 343 Industries has put up a Behind the Scenes-style look at the studio that's taken over the Halo franchise, with viewpoints from many of the developers currently on the team. Great watch - check it out! (Louis Wu 18:38:20 UTC)

It's a Grim Day
GrimBrother One has been an integral part of HBO for a while - but today, you can find him elsewhere around the web. Over at Xbox.com, he's the focus of the latest Gamer Spotlight - read it for some insight into the man himself. (I'm not sure what the 'XXX' underneath his home state of Florida, at the top, signifies... I worried at first that it would be a pornographic interview, but that turned out to be a baseless fear.) Thanks to SonofMacPhisto for pointing this out. When you're finished there, swing by Grim Times Indeed, a personal blog maintained by Grim - his latest post is a look back at the amazing year that was 2011. Did he PLAN for this newspost to appear on the 7th? I don't know, but I wouldn't put it past him. (Louis Wu 12:00:34 UTC)
