Achievement Horse - Halo Fest Edition
7he grunt w/a plasma pistol pointed out the Halo Fest edition of Achievement HORSE - it shows how the office staff handled the track they brought with them to Halo Fest (to raise money for Child's Play). Half a Homemade Newb Combo
Having had a lovely dinner with Leviathan and tucked Kermit in, I figured I'd shake off some of the PAX-induced stupor and gather up some of the news that has graced our forum lately. Bear with us as we'll be going back and sweeping up many a link over the next few days I'm sure. First off is Arithromaniac dropping in to show us his homemade Plasma Pistol complete with signatures from incredibly important people; mainly HBO members. Pretty sweet! Fails of the Weak Volume 47

Achievement HORSE #36 - it's not dirty
Achievement Hunter had two non-Halo-playing women (Kathleen, who plays the character Tex, and Kara, the office receptionist) competing against each other in the latest Achievement HORSE (well, PIG). The results were... entertaining. Thanks, 7he grunt w/a plasma pistol.

Clash of the Titans
On the wings on fanboy fervor, OhhWowFilms pits "Call of Duty" against "Halo" in a live-action showdown. You've got to give it to the team who runs into battle with a golf club and a Plasma Rifle. That's not a bias -- I'm just saying that a BR would've been a wiser choice, and to be that ballsy is an automatic win in my eyes. Go watch! (Hitmonchan 17:23:22 UTC)

Waypoint Goodies
bs angel passed along a couple of links she simply loved - you should swing by Halo Waypoint's website to watch 'em. The first is a Reach Goosetage called Platinum Goose - it almost seems like a Concussion Rifle is a mandatory Mongoose accessory! The second is called 'Sticky Punch' - and I gotta say, getting a plasma grenade stuck on your glove yields some pretty cool visuals! (For folks who have trouble with Silverlight, don't forget to scroll to the bottom of Waypoint's page - there's a 'View Full HTML Site' link that can let you navigate most things -including all YouTube hosted vids - without it.)

UNSC Tattoo
I'm still buried neck-deep in reconstruction work (and will be for a couple of weeks, it looks like) - but I'm going to take a few minutes to clear out some of the tidbits that have run across my desk recently. Braxton Colongione (you might remember his plasma pistol) sent along a photo of his UNSC Tattoo - 12 years ago he moved to a new state, and knew nobody... Halo (the original) got him through the early times, and he's remained loyal to the franchise ever since. Great way to show the fan love!

Halo CE News Roundup
Our man in the field send us a list of some cool goings-on in the Halo CE community:
- Precipice has been updated - you can watch the whole video, or you can jump in about 40 seconds for the good stuff.
- If you have an ATI 5 or 6 series card, you can have anti-aliasing in your Halo. Wow.
- Halo Custom Edition is getting bots - awesome!
- If you're a .NET programmer, BlamLib will let you interface with Halo's Tag System. Definitely tech-heavy... but pretty amazing!
- Ifafudafi's Plasma Pack 3 does really funky things with needles. Go look.
- Project Epsilon is Inferno's single player map based on the character Agent Washington from Red vs Blue. It has voice acting and custom animations!
- Someone built a Target Locator in Halo CE. No visuals yet (it's a pistol)... but ti's just as deadly as the Reach version. Pretty snazzy!

Massive Halo CE News Roundup
Our Halo CE watcher has sent along a pretty amazing update of what's going on around the Custom Edition community - explore these links!
- Ifafudafi released a video showing off the new particle effects he's added to the Plasma Pistol (along with tons of interesting commentary)
- ShadowSpartan has been working on a real-time Tag Editor; check out the video to watch the interface in action. No more text editing, saving changes, firing up Halo, looking at the change, quitting, re-editing, etc - now you can see your changes as you play. Pretty cool!
- Siliconmaster's Precipice is getting awfully pretty!
- CtrlAltDestr0y2 has been playing with the flamethrower effects - nice work! - and has added a feature that not even Halo 3 had: destructible projectiles.
- Project Lumoria continues to evolve - check out the latest pics, they're gorgeous.
- There's a cool Firefight-type map that gives you credits for finishing waves, which you can use to purchase weapons - interesting!
- An open letter to the developers of Halo 2 Vista has been written - some thought-provoking views in there.
- And finally, some fans are putting together a virtual convention to celebrate the community - nice!

An armory for the little guys
7he grunt w/a plasma pistol noticed that ThinkGeek is selling weapons for your LEGO minifigures - and several of them are Halo-related. The collection includes a Halo pistol, a plasma pistol, a needler, and an energy sword. It also includes the pulse rifle from Aliens, Megatron's Walther P38, an Auto-9 pistol from Robocop, a blaster from Blade Runner, and a phaser from Star Trek. Nice! (Louis Wu 19:14:57 UTC)

Solving a five-year-old trick challenge
We got word from grumpy about a Halo 2 trick. Explaining it is non-trivial; if you're not part of the tricking community, it might be difficult to even understand what's being done. Way back in late 2004, a special gun, hidden by Bungie just for tricksters, was found on the Halo 2 level Metropolis - it looked like a regular plasma pistol, but it fired Scarab Gun projectiles. dantheman87 wondered if you could get one from INSIDE the tunnel you drive in on Outskirts, though... which turned out to be a seriously complicated question. grumpy has posted a video which shows how to do this - but you might have to watch the tutorial he posts a little farther down, showing how all of the pieces get in place for the final grab. Halo 3: ODST Interview with the Game's Producer
Gamereactor (a scandinavian gamer site) has a video interview with Curtis Creamer, filmed at E3, discussing Firefight and why it's cool. (I was almost distracted from what Curtis was saying by the player behind him who was trying to kill a Hunter with normal shots from a plasma pistol...) Little buggers...
Pretty interesting timing - a couple of days ago, scarab mentioned a bizarre occurrance on the level Covenant - he'd been rushed by a boatload of suicide grunts. ElusiveEagle519 backed him up with a picture - then added some more early this morning. At some point today, Black Plasma Studios (in what seems to be a totally unrelated incident) posted a video showing exactly this behavior - and it made the Bungie Blog. Seems like LOTS of people have experienced this weirdness! Add 'em all up, you get a matinee.
Bungie.net has been tirelessly promoting videos since we went dark early yesterday morning - here's what we've found there so far:
- KillPie3 put together an interactive slot machine - YouTube's getting so fancy!
- Static Hazard and B Mc Gann are back with MLG Top 10 Plays Episode 6.
- I like pie727 whipped up a second Mongoose Splatter montage.
- T7 spitfire created plasma art in Stick City. This one's a little hypnotic.
- WARTICK007 filmed a relatively unique twist on the Tank Dropper achievement.
- The 7th Wonder folks built a golf ball maze on Sandbox. KWhat?
- Anoj has released Episode 29 of his Top 10 Halo 3 series - this one's about Splatters.
