Showing results 626 - 650 of 1322 matches October 4, 2008 Link to this post Halo Wars: Field Trip to Harvest As we mentioned on Thursday, there was a new cinematic unveiled on GameTrailers TV last night - DHalo pointed it out while it was being broadcast, and then Impervium passed along the online link once it went live. It's a pretty impressive piece of animation - and it unveils quite a number of tidbits of the upcoming Halo Wars storyline. Go watch it - and then jump into the thread linked above and toss in your two cents! Update: looks like the entire episode is online - you can see more Halo Wars content, including Campaign gameplay, in there. Thanks, Bzerker01. (Louis Wu 14:59:29 UTC)
October 4, 2008 Link to this post You had something they didn't.
Heh - here's an interesting use of Halo 3 audio, in a trailer for a new video series honoring Kobe Bryant. Thanks, LD2k.

September 26, 2008 Link to this post Hours of analysis of 63 seconds
If you're looking for pixel-by-pixel analysis of the Keep It Clean trailer, the Halo community has you covered. Grunts R Us did a full analysis (though at this particular moment it seems to be offline for maintenance - try a bit later), Xbox 360 Fanboy put together a 2-minute video analysis pointing out some key items (thanks, RVideo), Rampancy.net stepped through the teaser frame by frame, applying Narcogen's usual thoroughness and observational skills to the task, and Ascendant Justice has posted 'Into the Ashen Wake (Part One)' with ITS typical thoroughness and observational skills (thanks, Cocopjojo). And of course, there's plenty of speculation on our forum (and elsewhere). I'm pretty sure if, after reading/watching these, you haven't seen commentary on a feature of the video... it's not there. September 25, 2008 Link to this post Fans tackle new trailer with passion There's no way at all I'm going to be able to keep up with all the interesting speculation and analysis around the net today. I'll point out a few useful bits, and then you're on your own. - Gabe Hammond uploaded a copy of the trailer to YouTube, if you can't download a version from Microsoft.
- Jordan117 did a frame-by-frame walkthrough on our forum.
- Painkilla05 put up some interesting notes (including the observation that the final drop pod seen in the teaser is actually not the final drop pod at all, and a wonderful map showing the locations of all mentioned city neighborhoods on a New Mombasa grid) over at Podtacular.
- thebruce (of Unfiction fame) has posted a Flickr stream containing all of the significant frames in the trailer - this might be the easiest way to find specific content. (In the time it's taken me to get this post online, he's started a thread on our forum.)
- Everyone and their brother (I'm talking about gaming websites, not individual fans) is interpreting the multiple references to '01/06/09' as evidence that Bungie will release this new project on January 6, 2009. This is, of course, possible - but you also need to remember that the text being interpreted is ostensibly coming from an AI in Kenya, which uses the dd/mm/yy syntax for dates; we could be talking about June 1, 2009. And it might not be a release date at all. More when we know it.
- Minor detail, but worth noting - SketchFactor apologizes for any confusion over the 'Maddie, where are you?' line in the trailer; it's an unfortunate coincidence, but has nothing whatsoever to do with Madeleine McCann, the four-year-old British child who disappeared in Portugal in May, 2007.
There has been quite a bit more than this - but again, keeping up with specific collections is past my capabilities today. Poke around... and enjoy yourself! This isn't supposed to be a chore, or a frustrating exercise - this is supposed to be fun! (Louis Wu 17:46:40 UTC)
September 25, 2008 Link to this post Prepare to Drop
The countdown has ended, and the reveal is... staggering. A new teaser trailer, filled with win. I won't spoil it for you, but I WILL tell you that there is a TON of information in this one. This will be picked over, frame by frame, but the Halo faithful - but even a first watching should get your blood pumping. It's available on Bungie.net, of course (WMP9 and QuickTime, served up from speedy Microsoft hosts), and shortly on Xbox Live Marketplace, in glorious HD. If, for whatever reason, you can't get to Bungie.net, the download links are here: QuickTime: 180p (13.5 mb) | 360p (33.2 mb) | 720p (66.7 mb) WMP9: 180p (5.2 mb)| 360p (12.0 mb) | 720p (47.9 mb) Watch it... and start discussing! August 28, 2008 Link to this post 28 Weeks Later In late July, Jamie98s released a trailer for 28 Weeks Later, his reconstruction of the movie of the same name in the Halo 3 engine. Today, he's proud to announce the full version - a monster film, 43 minutes long, weighing in at a bit over 350 mb in downloadable format. Here's Jamie's description: "Six months after the rage virus was inflicted on the population of Great Britain, the US Army helps to secure a small area of London for the survivors to repopulate and start again. The main focus is on a father reuniting with his 2 children, whose mother was infected by the virus." 43 minutes might seem absurdly long for a Halo machinima, but Jamie cut half the movie to make it fit (though he did so in a way that kept the story fully understandable). It's an amazing piece of work; he's captured the tension and emotion of the original, while living within the confines of the Halo 3 environment. You can download it from our servers in either WMP9 format (366 mb) or QuickTime format (359 mb) - we rarely serve files this large, so I can't promise downloads won't be slow. If you don't want to wait, or you can't handle the larger version, Jamie98s should have a streaming version on his site at some point soon. Two thumbs up! (Louis Wu 14:54:28 UTC)
August 25, 2008 Link to this post G.R.I.E.F. Trailer You might remember Smooth Few Films - they've been making machinima for quite some time (with lots of accolades), and have dipped their toes in the Halo 3 world (The Over-Achiever, The Bag Boy, The GunStop Way) - looks like they're back, with a trailer for an upcoming project called 'G.R.I.E.F'. As usual, high production values, huge potential - looking forward to the actual series! Huzzah! Thanks, Rosco-128. (Louis Wu 12:56:01 UTC)
August 15, 2008 Link to this post Master Chief meets Bollywood?
Crispy Gamer's James Fudge pointed us to this news bit about a Bollywood movie that apparently revolves around a fictional designer of Halo 3. As CG says, the trailer mentioned in the article has no Halo content at all... so we'll have to take their word for it. (A Google search turns up a bunch of synopses of the film - but again, no Halo mention.) (Louis Wu 14:33:20 UTC)
August 12, 2008 Link to this post A new Bungie product - with a full map editor (and bots)?
Very cool - looks like someone uploaded the acceptance speech vid Bungie sent to Edge for the Interactive Innovation Award announced yesterday. It clearly shows a lot of very, very interesting additions to Forge - might we be seeing these innovations in a release from Bungie sometime? (This could explain why some of the voice actors were recording new dialogue not too long ago...) Looks like MasterChief2829 was first in our forum with the news (and the forum has exploded with excitement over it). (Louis Wu 13:32:49 UTC)
August 8, 2008 Link to this post Grind Rider - Official Trailer JustAnotherFan pointed out a post on Bungie.net advertising the Grind Rider trailer - a Halo-based Western. Looks fun... but you'll have to wait until October for the actual machinima! (Louis Wu 22:57:04 UTC)

August 2, 2008 Link to this post TTHL: The Fake Trailer
Kusho posted an announcement for 'TTHL: The Fake Trailer' in our forum. Feedback is pretty positive; it didn't do much for me, but apparently others liked it. Give it a shot! (Louis Wu 15:43:22 UTC)
August 1, 2008 Link to this post Reimagined Halo - in Higher Res
Vegechan got us a higher-res copy of his Halo tribute trailer (we pointed out the YouTube version yesterday) - you can now download 640x480 versions from us in this post. They're worth it!

July 31, 2008 Link to this post Halo - Just like you Imagined
Vegechan created a Halo tribute trailer using music from 300 and footage from many sources, including Halo game trailers, cutscenes, and more. Has a nicely epic feel to it. (Louis Wu 23:41:33 UTC)
July 28, 2008 Link to this post 28 Weeks Later Trailer Jamie98s has released a trailer for 28 Weeks Later - you can watch it streaming from his website, or you can download it in WMP9 (28.2 mb) or QuickTime (29 mb) formats from our mirror. Great integration of effects - not too over-the-top, but powerful. Great camera angles. Looks to be fantastic! (You might remember Jamie's 28 Days Later recreation from about 3 years ago... he likes the genre!)

July 22, 2008 Link to this post Grey Team Transmission mumbletymumblty Part mhrmm Okay, I'm confused. Back in March, Mindless Distortion released Gray Team Transmission One. A week later, they released Gray Team Transmission Two Trailer, and followed that up about two months later with Gray Team: Transmission 2 - Part 1. As far as I can tell, they never released part 2 - the next video in the series was Gray Team Transmission Three Trailer Part 2 (skipping Transmission 2 Part 2 and the first part of the Transmission 3 Trailer). Today, they've got Gray Team Transmission Three: Relegation Part 2 of 2. I THINK that the trailer part 2 was just a precursor of this file, and that the 'part 2 of 2' is needless confusion, since they jumped from Transmission Two to Transmission Three (that should be enough to suggest that they're linked, and one follows the other). But I'm not sure. Anyway, this episode is out, and ready for viewing. According to Marc Swint, "After this episode, we will be moving to a 22 minute long format and beyond episode 5, Gray Team will be exclusively airing on the website Good Game TV." Lots of explodey things.

July 19, 2008 Link to this post Bungie's unseen content - a teaser trailer?
Sun-Tzu noticed a post at GameRush Entertainment that suggests that was Bungie was planning to show at E3 was "a sixty second "knock'em down" teaser trailer" - with more reveals later in the week on their own site. No attribution is supplied for this information. Your guess is as good as mine! (Louis Wu 09:52:12 UTC)
July 14, 2008 Link to this post Halo Wars - Asset City As expected, there was no announcement from Bungie today (that will almost certainly come Wednesday). However, there WERE new releases from Ensemble; the Halo Wars FAQ, the Screenshots section (complete with battlemech-style mystery units that might or might not be the previously-mentioned Cyclops, and a Prophet in the midst of battle (thanks, GatchamanUK), along with other goodies), and the Renders section all got updated, along with a new trailer entitled 'Five Long Years', showing prerendered battle footage. (If you're having trouble with the WMP9 versions, we've slapped up a 720p H.264-encoded QuickTime (68.2 mb), and a 360p Sorenson3-encoded QuickTime (15.1 mb) - it's definitely worth watching.) There's a rather sizeable discussion thread on our forum, if you want to toss your two cents in. Update: apparently, it's on Xbox Live Marketplace, as well, now. (Louis Wu 21:40:02 UTC)

June 18, 2008 Link to this post New Halo Wars Screenshots
MrSprout was the first to point out a new batch of about 40 Halo Wars screenshots (really new, this time, not snagged from a released trailer or scrounged up from some obscure past), over at GamePro.com. This game is looking pretty good! (Louis Wu 12:03:31 UTC)
June 16, 2008 Link to this post MLG San Diego - Cold Storage Unveiled, Str8 Rippin Wins
The big news this weekend was the unveiling of Cold Storage, a new remake of Chill Out that Bungie brought with them to MLG San Diego. (The 'screens' in that story are pretty lousy - you can get a slightly better look at the map in a fan-recorded video from the event over at GameTrailers - thanks, MasterChief2829.) The jury's still out on this one - but reaction from the event (where the only people who actually SAW the map were) is pretty positive. While you're over at MLGPro.com, check out the San Diego Hall of Champions - congrats to Str8 Rippin, who took first place in the 4v4. (Louis Wu 11:57:54 UTC)
