Thursday Video Cornucopia
Spent the day away from the computer - came back to a plethora of movie offerings at B.net:

  • Anoj is back with Top 10 Halo 3 Guardian Kills: Ep 48. (Link in B.net post goes to Honorable Mentions - the actual Top 10 is here.)
  • Sandstorm 2 is a montage from Sandman - heavy on the editing.
  • Just the Two of Us is a dualtage from iEli X and Zero - mellow.
  • Indiana Pwns is a funny parody trailer from ChrisOfTheDead - nice work.
  • Bearin Yooden is the newest creation from Phatcorns - combines the awesome camerawork of Team Scoog with the awesome camerawork of Quentin Tarantino. Don't miss it.

Whew! (Louis Wu 23:26:19 UTC)

Grifball: Expansion - coming to Waypoint
T51b noticed that a new Rooster Teeth series is coming to Halo Waypoint, starting next week - the trailer for 'Grifball: Expansion' is online now, and the first episode will be aired on February 20. We've put up 720p versions of the trailer on the web, for folks who want to see what they'd be missing: grab it in either WMP9 (32 mb) or QuickTime (26 mb) formats. (If you watch it on Waypoint, don't miss other goodies, like Valentines screens, or the unsegmented version of Midnight in the Heart of Midlothian, or the new Reach ViDoc... or tons of other stuff! Game Informer Reach Podcast
Game Informer has posted a Special Edition Podcast, focused on Halo: Reach. It claims to feature 'exclusive music from the Halo: Reach soundtrack', though this seems to be simply the Lone Wolf score from the VGA trailer. The podcast has impressions from GI writers that saw the game in December, along with questions from fans (answered by those writers). One hour long. Thanks to big ander, over at NeoGAF, for the heads-up. (Louis Wu 14:45:16 UTC)

The Heart of Midlothian Comes Alive
We don't usually use prewritten blurbs, but this one's pretty good:

343 Industries has partnered with ONE to create a stunning motion comic based on Frank O'Connor's Halo: Evolutions short story. Told in ONE's unique artistic style, "Midnight in the Heart of Midlothian" is a story of bravery and sacrifice in the darkest parts of space. "Midnight in the Heart of Midlothian" will air weekly as a four-part series exclusive to Halo Waypoint, starting this Saturday, January 16th. After the final episode, the Midlothian series will be available on Waypoint indefinitely so fans can come back to watch this amazing story again and again.

We're happy to be able to bring you the trailer in 720p downloadable beauty - you can grab a copy from us in WMP9 (24.4 mb) or QuickTime (29.4 mb) formats. This was a wonderful story in the Evolutions collection, and an animated retelling makes my feet tingle. Go grab the trailer - and look forward to Part 1 on Waypoint this Saturday! Lone Wolf Deployed
Did you love the score in the Halo Reach trailer? Bungie has your back - you can now download it from the Reach Project Page at Bungie.net... w00t! (Thanks, urk. And Marty! Thanks, Marty!) Update: for iTunes users, Sorahn whipped up some quick cover art, so that your Coverflow won't be empty. (urk was unhappy with the centering, so there's a centered variant, as well.) Picking Apart the Pieces
Reach trailer analysis pieces are appearing at large gaming sites - I need to thank the HaloGAF population for keeping up on this stuff. ZZMitch noticed a Rewind installment from IGN (they step through the trailer, stopping at bits they feel are important)... WickedLahari pointed out a Digital Foundry analysis from Eurogamer (they're calling foul, saying that the trailer was rendered offline (in-engine, but offline) in high-res, then downsampled to 720p to eliminate aliasing). There will likely be others. (Louis Wu 13:24:50 UTC)
