In-game emblems - make do with what's there
Dave 'Evil Otto' Candland stopped by our forum with some news about multiplayer emblems in Reach - yes, a bunch have been removed (for memory reasons, mostly, but also in a few cases to avoid intellectual property issues going forward), and no, there aren't any unlocks coming later. No, the Bungie Weekly Update doesn't provide you with the skinny on the Multiplayer Trailer teases. That doesn't mean it's not worth reading, though - lots of good stuff in there. Everything from a clean version of the trailer's soundtrack (C Paul - you rock) to winners of the emblem contest, to a really funny Blame Stosh vid... and even more. Go read. Be A Hero - Today!
I was heartened (no pun intended) to see all the Haiti-induced shoulder emblems on LIVE players last night - and was asked a number of times about them by folks who weren't wearing them (so there are enough for the average player to sit up and take notice). You've still got another day to show your support and increase the amount of money Bungie will be donating; the effort runs through midnight (Pacific Time) tonight. An aftershock hit yesterday morning (5.9, so significantly smaller than last week's 7.0, but still devastating, given the current conditions there) - so need is urgent. Wearing that Heart emblem is the easiest way in the world to help - do it! (Louis Wu 13:44:55 UTC)

Be a Hero - Gameplay Phase Starts Tonight!
A reminder: The 48 hour period during which your choice of emblem worn on Xbox LIVE in Halo 3 or ODST can contribute to Bungie's financial donation to the Haiti relief effort begins in just four and a half hours - be sure to visit the Be A Hero page and read the instructions for properly setting your emblem so that your gametime counts! (That was a really awkward sentence. Let's try that again. Visit the Be A Hero page to learn the exact heart-based emblem to put on your Halo 3 Spartan or ODST Marine. Then, wear it online between Wednesday just after midnight through Thursday just before midnight - both PST - and you will count towards the $100 per thousand players that Bungie will be contributing to the Haiti Relief effort. Be a Hero!
Bungie wants to help you help folks in Haiti - buy a 'Be A Hero' t-shirt from them (or anything at all from the Bungie Store, through the end of February), they'll donate 100% of the profits to the relief effort. Change your emblem while playing Halo 3 online, and they'll contribute cash (more details in the B.net announcement). Do both - do more! Help Bungie help Haiti. Go Go Go! A nearly-complete collection of high-res vector renderings of the Halo 3 medals is now available for your downloading pleasure. Halo 3 High Resolution Emblem Pack
SK CRISIS created high-resolution images and vectors of every emblem in the Halo 3 collection - you can recreate your character's emblem in high-res for whatever use you choose. The uncompressed folder of images has 344 items, and weighs in at 18 mb; the compressed .rar file is only 5.3 mb. Change your emblem to Mark of Shame
Hawty McBloggy found a plasma pistol montage - it's all kills with the plasma pistol. No, not an overcharge and then a beatdown/headshot/whatever... but actual kills by being hit with plasma shots. Some of these you have to wonder about - they take him many, many seconds to finish off his opponents, who totally fail at returning the favor. Quality's borderline, but still fun. (You should watch the HQ version at YouTube.)

Bah. Hyokin sent along this screengrab from the 'Five Long Years' cinematic that Ensemble released to hype Halo Wars - it shows the Legendary emblem painted on the nose of some Pelicans. I don't have high hopes for the whole 'sticking to canon' thing when UNSC aircraft, meeting Covenant forces for the very first time in history, have a symbol created with a Covenant skull, and a machete written out of the Halo Universe more than eight years ago, emblazoned on them. Rare Action Figures on eBay
PFG let us know that he's listed two unreleased Halo figures on eBay - the first is a prototype White Spartan with funky mismatched emblems, the second is a Battle Damaged Halo 3 Master Chief created by Joyride before they backed out of the Halo 3 license - there are very few of these out there. Halo 2 emblem Photoshop brushes
Don stumbled across a site called 'Brusheezy' ("Stupid Name. Cool Brushes!" is their slogan), which has a set of Photoshop brushes from the Halo 2 emblems. Could be useful!

Hey - where's the shoulder emblem?
Hawty McBloggy was faced with some unexpected snow this past week, so she did what any true Halo fan would do - she built a Spartan Snowman. It comes complete with plasma grenade, spike grenade, and even a katana. (Yes, that snowman got all the achievements.)
