If you've been around for a while, the name 'Fire Team Charlie' might mean something to you. (If it doesn't... you missed a great time in Halo history.) BennyFortman stopped by last night to announce that they're back - with a trailer for Fort Team Charlie, a Halo/Team Fortress 2 hybrid machinima. The trailer rocks! Go watch it.

Heh - We got word from Andrew that Fire Team Charlie has a promo for the MLG Canadian Open on the MLG Canada website. (Even if you're not planning on entering the tourney, it's a funny vid.) (Louis Wu 14:56:36 UTC)

Major League Gaming has expanded into Canada! MLGCanada.com opened today - you can check the press release at MLGPro.com, GameBattles or Marketwire, or a story on CTV's Canada AM - or just check out the new site. There's tons of new content already - including a new vid from longtime machinima favorites Fire Team Charlie (check for it in the 'Featured MLG Videos' list on the front page). Thanks, Andrew.

January 15, 2006 Link to this post Portable FTC Andrew, from Xbox Ottawa, writes to say that all the Fire Team Charlie episodes have been converted to portable formats for the PSP and video iPod - you can download them from their video page. Watch 'em on the road! (Louis Wu 15:17:47 UTC)
June 14, 2005 Link to this post Madda Cheeb! A couple of months in development, the Madda Cheeb Flash Game is now available for play over at the Fire Team Charlie website. Be careful - it plays really screwy on Safari under Tiger. Works fine on other browsers/platforms, though. FUN! Thanks, Madda Cheeb. (Louis Wu 17:41:22 UTC)
May 1, 2005 Link to this post Madda Cheeb needs your help! Z, of Xbox Ottawa (the Fire Team Charlie guys) has released a new (beta) version of his Madda Cheeb Flash game - get Madda Cheeb to the video game store without being killed by the anti-MS fanbois who want to keep him from buying Halo 2! It's still got some rough spots- but he's looking for feedback to make it better. You'll find info and game links in this forum thread. (Louis Wu 16:45:03 UTC)
March 21, 2005 Link to this post Look - Flamingos. And Penguins! Wow. Fire Team Charlie has posted Episode 18 for members - currently DivX-only (74.5 mb), but QuickTime coming soon. With all the machinima coming out these days, and no updates since mid-January, you might have forgotten about these guys... that would be a mistake. A great blend of Halo footage and humor, with just the right amount of mod effects. This one was all Benny - and it rocks. (Should be up for the masses by Wednesday.) (Louis Wu 16:04:33 UTC)
January 21, 2005 Link to this post Prima Donna is an understatement. Fire Team Charlie has released FTC 17, in hi-res AVI format, for members; it will be up in lower-res format for the masses by tomorrow night. (A hi-res QuickTime should be available later today or tomorrow morning for members.) It weighs in at a bit over 12 minutes, and is something of a departure from the norm for the crew. Pretty dang hilarious, if you ask me; these guys get better and better with every episode. Comments can be left in Z's thread on our forum. (Louis Wu 18:01:33 UTC)
December 23, 2004 Link to this post An FTC Xmas Andrew dropped by our forum to point out a new holiday song over at XboxOttawa, created by FTC fan Curt Is Not. It's a summary of recent plot points in the Fire Team Charlie series, set to a familiar tune. Go listen! (Language, as is true with most FTC offerings, is NSFW.) (Louis Wu 11:43:49 UTC)
December 20, 2004 Link to this post Fire Team Charlie Episode 16 - now for all Andrew dropped by our forum to point out that the direct-download links for FTC 16 are now available (to all, not just to members). AVI or QuickTime, a bit over 50 mb each. Go grab 'em! (Louis Wu 22:56:51 UTC)
November 3, 2004 Link to this post They've got a pool! Ack! Yesterday, we got word from Andrew, of Fire Team Charlie, that FTC 15 had been released for members. Somehow, I totally spaced on it after replying to him. If you're a member, go grab it now (80 mb, DivX-encoded AVI, with a QuickTime coming some time today or tonight). If you're not... it should be available to the public in lower-res formats in the near future. As usual - it's great. Introduction of many, many new characters in this one - and new vocal talent. It rocks! (Louis Wu 12:33:42 UTC)
October 26, 2004 Link to this post Turn up the lights for Andrew Andrew Zulpo, half of the Fire Team Charlie team at Xbox Ottawa, sat down recently with the Junkyard boyz - you can find his Spotlight covering topics like what games not to play on a Nintendo 64, and knowing jack about jack. Thanks, Mhaddy. (Louis Wu 20:30:52 UTC)
October 18, 2004 Link to this post 13b for the masses In early September, Fire Team Charlie released FTC13b as a member-exclusive movie. This saddened many people who wanted to see it, but didn't want to (or couldn't) pay the $10 membership fee. Well... now you can watch it anyway - just visit the site for details. Thanks, Ash! (Louis Wu 11:01:36 UTC)
September 7, 2004 Link to this post Why won't somebody help the point man? Age points out that the Fire Team Charlie boyz have put out another vid; FTC13b is members-only, but it's 8:16 of hilarity, absolutely worth the 65 mb download. It's currently available in Divx-encoded AVI format, but they'll have a QuickTime version available later today. (Louis Wu 17:21:21 UTC)
August 20, 2004 Link to this post The FTC CTF School A couple of months ago, we mentioned a contest being run by Fire Team Charlie, over at Xboxottawa... beat them in a 2v2 match on XBC, win cool schwag. They've put up one of their first games, edited in a really humorous manner... worth watching, if you want to enter, or just if you want to watch a couple of clan guys get their butts kicked at CTF. It's 24 minutes long, and 150 mb large, so it's for members only... but hey, it's only $10 to become a member! Thanks to vshields ash for pointing it out. (Louis Wu 18:15:56 UTC)
July 12, 2004 Link to this post FTC13 available for the masses - sort of Hmm. Fire Team Charlie has put up low-res versions of Episode 13 for download via BitTorrent... but the torrent file links to a zip file that contains BOTH the DivX and QuickTime versions (so you have to download 142 mb worth of content ANYWAY). Oddness. Hopefully, they'll separate these out to two separate torrents soon. Meanwhile, if you don't mind grabbing extra content, go get 'em! Update: There are now separate torrent files for the two different versions on the FTC Downloads page, so you only need to download the 70 mb version you WANT, rather than both. :) This is really one of the most technologically impressive bits of Halo Machinima to be made... you definitely want to check it out. (Louis Wu 08:08:55 UTC)
July 10, 2004 Link to this post The Return of Squatting Bear Many people have already noticed... but I've been pretty busy making the QuickTime versions, so I didn't get around to posting this yet. Fire Team Charlie has released Episode 13 today, for sponsors - and it's enormous. Hi-res versions are in the 150-170 mb range (depending on platform). DivX is up now, QuickTime will be up as soon as Andrew can move the file to his server. Monday and Tuesday, the low-res versions (~70 mb each) will be made available via BitTorrent, and midweek a direct download will be an option. It's 21 minutes long, and an amazing piece of work; if you're a member, go to Xbox Ottawa now and grab it! (Louis Wu 01:48:23 UTC)
June 30, 2004 Link to this post XboxOttawa says Bring It Hehe - the Fire Team Charlie boyz have a whole bunch of goodies to give away, and they've finally settled on how they're gonna do it. Play 'em on XBC, 2v2, and beat 'em, and you win stuff. That simple! There are some very reasonable rules laid out on the contest page - go make sure you're not breaking any! Thanks to Dr Lime, at HaloPlanet, for pointing it out. (Louis Wu 13:30:15 UTC)
May 25, 2004 Link to this post Over the top, baby Fire Team Charlie's 12th offering is up and available for download, in both Divx and QuickTime formats. It's hefty (60 mb in DivX format, 47 mb in QuickTime), long (6:57), and very, very funny. Once again, mods rule the special effects, with some stunning visuals resulting. What are you waiting for? Go grab it! (Louis Wu 10:20:40 UTC)
March 4, 2004 Link to this post But only because you're a Messiah now As pointed out by Bonta-Kun, Fire Team Charlie has released episode 11 of their series, for sponsors. (It'll be out for the masses a bit later.) Currently in DivX format - QuickTime coming soon. This one is pretty darn cool; I LOVE Mt. Hangemhigh and the android factory! (Louis Wu 09:31:43 UTC)
February 6, 2004 Link to this post Reload! Those crazy guys at Fire Team Charlie have put up another Flash shooter; take out the enemy MCs before they take YOU out. It's pretty tough - I didn't play very long, but my score was only 2375; there are folks in their forum with scores over 7000. it's fun! (Comments can go in this thread.) (Louis Wu 11:55:33 UTC)
January 19, 2004 Link to this post Hurry up, before these guys learn how to shoot! The long-awaited Episode 10 of Fire Team Charlie has been released. If you're a member, you can grab the very large (95 mb) Hi-res version... but for everyone else, what you want is the low-res (320x240, DivX-encoded) version; it's available right now as a BitTorrent seed, and should be available by tomorrow morning as a direct download. QuickTime is coming soon, as well. This is a killer film; it ties together many, many episodes of FTC (including episodes that weren't even part of the series!), and does so with some really nice film work. The low-res version is 56 mb (not bad for a movie that's 11:30 long). (Louis Wu 19:51:26 UTC)
November 24, 2003 Link to this post Fire Team Charlie - Ready To Roll! After a really long hiatus, Fire Team Charlie is back, with episode 9. It's available in DivX-encode AVI format (and QuickTime, as soon as they link it), and weighs in at about 40 mb. It's high-res (640x480), for EVERYONE - though members of XboxOttawa.ca can download it directly, while everyone else needs to use BitTorrent. This episode ties together quite a bit of the previous pieces - even pieces that didn't seem to be linked. Sound quality is a tad rough, but the humor is great. Check it out! (Louis Wu 15:39:46 UTC)
November 8, 2003 Link to this post Team Ice back online Blade writes to say that the Team Ice site has been updated; there are a few movies mirrored there (including the entire Fire Team Charlie series), and their new forums are now online. Take a look! (Louis Wu 10:07:01 UTC)
September 6, 2003 Link to this post No cheating. Fire Team Charlie has posted FTC7 - and it's a keeper. Currently available as a 352x224 DivX-encoded AVI weighing in at 7.6 mb, it can be downloaded from the main site, or from Blade's Team Ice mirror, or from files.bungie.org. A large (640x412, 18.2 mb) version is available for members off the XboxOttawa site. QuickTime versions will be coming tomorrow. Jump in with comments in this forum thread! (Louis Wu 02:40:15 UTC)
