Long Live Phoenix (the logo)
Ghôlsbane has submitted an .eps file containing a path of the Phoenix logo outline. To use this, open it in Photoshop (or anything that reads Photoshop paths) and select the Paths palette. It's invisible until you select it. Quality is quite good; there's a simple example of what you can do with it in the Miscellaneous Art entry that houses it, and a fancier one at the Phoenix Hub over at Forerunners.org. The Phoenix project, a shadowy enigma these past couple of years, has been shelved... and to add to the history of this image, the word from Bungie was that "it's not an 'official' Phoenix logo, just one that the team picked out from a dozen or so Chris Barrett put together for our Bungie business cards." However, it's all we've got, and now that Phoenix is no more, I'm sure folks will put it to good use. :) (Louis Wu 02:50:22 UTC)

A weekend of editing
Lots of art bits submitted recently. We'll start with the miscellaneous art - there's an airbrushed MC, a Halo box, and an MC with a sword, from XAL, Jack Smith, and Chris, respectively. You'll find these in our Miscellaneous Art section. And then there's a new banner in our Banners section, and two new logos in our Logos section, all courtesy of Michael Frank. Big Artwork Thing What Kicks Our Asses.
Griffon has spent some time creating a pretty spectacular piece of wallpaper from the cover of this month's Edge magazine. (As far as I know, the back cover hasn't been shown on the web yet.) It's available in a variety of sizes, and it's watermarked with the Edge logo to remind people where it came from originally. If you can afford it... subscribe to this mag; it's easily one of the best gaming magazines out there. New Press material from Xbox.com
Strato99| noticed some new Halo 2 material over at the Xbox.com press site - a couple of isolated shots of MC (that is, separated from any background), a nice version of the Halo 2 logo, and the four main screens with no watermarks on them. These aren't really hi-res or anything... but if you're building Halo 2 stuff for the web, they just might come in handy. (Louis Wu 01:59:38 UTC)

Warthogs in the Wild
Back from the wilds, and still in an off-road frame of mind... nice to see that in my absence, there's been a bunch of Warthog-related action. Blackstar has created a pair of Warthog ads—I like the first better than the second, but they're both worth watching—in QuickTime 5 format, at 6.9 mb and 7.4 mb respectively... now we've had Ford AND Chevy representation. Also, dogsounds has weighed in from the other side of the pond, with a Range Rover version, which you'll find in our Miscellaneous Art section. (He apologizes to Razorback for the use of the Warthog logo, but points out that since RB stole it from Warthog Games anyway...) I could have used this yesterday! To all content submitters - deep apologies for my forgetting to pass on new access perms to the rest of the crew - the latest round of material will go up in the next little bit. Good to be home! New Truth and Recon content
Mnemesis is just full of it today... good info, that is. He spotted a couple of new entries at Bungie's Tru7h and Reconciliation site - the next level of their Halo Legendary Walkthrough (this time done by Dave Candland), and a new desktop, based on the T-Shirt logo. Canadian Halo Commercial...
Before I forget AGAIN - Grail, of CWB, saw a new Halo commercial on Canadian TV earlier this week - then TomeOne, back from the wilds of Austria, saw it as well yesterday. It contains a Marathon logo, a politician, some Halo footage, and talk of 'whoop-ass'. If anyone manages to capture this on video, please - let us know! (Louis Wu 02:14:00 UTC)

Halo font - created at last!
Now this is just plain cool. Will Turnbow went looking for a Halo font, as many others before him have done - but when he didn't find one, he created it. Currently, it's just the letters, but he's said that if there's demand, and people approve of the work so far, he'd be willing to add other characters. There are two flavors - plain, and outline - so that they can be filled (as with the standard Halo logo). All letters are the same height, because it made more sense than arbitrarily making some shorter. You can find download links in our Miscellaneous Art section, along with a quick preview of the font. Japanese Halo championship, explained
Yesterday, we mentioned some changes to the Japanese Halo site - protexts has been kind enough to translate the news item associated with the dogtags (he calls it a paraphrase/translation):
They are having a Halo tournament 3/31 in two shops in Nagoya: Nagoya Toys Paradise and Miraiyabuusu. The players will purchase first time limited dog tags (comes with rubber silencer (literal translation) along with a case and a logo on it). The dog tags are the tickets to the tournament.
So, if you're going to be anywhere near Nagoya in the next couple of days, you might want to visit one of these shops! (Louis Wu 10:56:51 UTC)
