It contains details about what Microsoft was asking (stuff I haven't seen elsewhere yet), as well as what each party got (Microsoft seems to have gotten 10% of the movie's gross - less than the 15% they asked for, but still a subtantial chunk)... but all of it is contingent on MS ceding some creative control, something they may not be willing to do. Great writeup - and nice to see a picture of the Master Chief on the front page of the NYT Business section. Thanks, wayn0ka. (Louis Wu 16:32:16 UTC)
June 10, 2005 Link to this post Now THAT'S a slammer. Greendude was cleaning out his closet, and came across a collection of pogs, a game that gained new popularity about 10 years ago (follow the link for more info). He found one that looks eerily like the Master Chief... weirdness. (Louis Wu 14:23:58 UTC)
June 7, 2005 Link to this post The Studio Stunt Wow. So a couple of months ago, the rumor making the rounds was that a Halo script was being written for the big screen by Alex Garland, who wrote The Beach and 28 Days Later. And then we heard nothing. Until today. Defamer has a piece that says that couriers dressed up in Master Chief armor have been bringing the script around to all the major studios to be read (and bid on) today. If we get word on how this turns out, we'll be sure to let you know. Update: Looks like it didn't go over so well... an updated blog entry at Defamer suggests that the script... well, is not so good. Thanks, Anton P. Nym. (Louis Wu 01:30:19 UTC)
May 27, 2005 Link to this post MC goes south... and a look at quitters Over at Halo Babies, you'll find a photo diary of Master Chief's E3 Adventure... that guy can get into a lot of trouble! When you're done with that... there's also a new strip for the day. You gotta pick your friends carefully... (Louis Wu 13:55:36 UTC)

No purchase necessary - just sign up. (You must be 18 or older, and live in the US.) First note I saw was from Capt Scope077 on our forum. (Louis Wu 10:48:19 UTC)
May 14, 2005 Link to this post Halo 2 Watch Auction Peter Snel sent along an eBay link for a Halo 2 watch; if you'd always wanted one of these, but never got around to buying one, now's your chance. Auction ends in less than 2 days. Update: posted a bit after 8 am ET, before I run out the door... these were found by 7he One: Whew! (Louis Wu 09:37:25 UTC)
May 12, 2005 Link to this post New Action Figures Ooh, that looks nice - According to Joyride, Gamestop will be selling a battle-damaged Warthog in July. There's also a new version of the Master Chief and an ODST (among other things) coming out in August. Poke around - there's tons of new ones listed. Thanks, Madda Cheeb2.0. (Louis Wu 10:29:19 UTC)
May 5, 2005 Link to this post Wieldable SMGs Chris Bryan continues to work on Halo-related pieces - if you check his wearable Master Chief suit page, you'll find a new picture; he's put together a pair of M7/Caseless SMGs that look pretty nice! (He wonders whether he should make 'em shiny, or leave 'em matte... personally, I like 'em the way they are.) (Louis Wu 18:40:02 UTC)
April 26, 2005 Link to this post Legendary Walkthrough: High Charity Mike Miller's Halo 2 Legendary Walkthrough continues to grow with High Charity - it's dark, it's messy, he gets through it fast. April 24, 2005 Link to this post Arbiter and Chief Print The Bungie Store has put up a new, limited edition (500 copies) print of the very cool Master Chief and Arbiter image created by Craig Mullins (you can find an early version of the picture in our Mullins gallery). 8x10, $25 - just like the last one. Get 'em before they're gone! Thanks, Desolation33. (Louis Wu 12:37:42 UTC)

April 14, 2005 Link to this post Alan James MC Suit - Progress Continues Almost 2 weeks ago, Alan James sent us new pictures of his under-construction Master Chief Suit - this time, it's arm (or leg?) pieces. Apologies for taking so long to get them up... check 'em out, and follow along with the progress! (Louis Wu 21:12:48 UTC)
April 13, 2005 Link to this post Who's Afraid of Mature Games There's a fascinating article over at PC Magazine; a father, not really a video game player, discusses the ESRB rating system, and where it might be falling short. (One of his conclusions: "I'm sorry, but Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas should not have the same letter rating as Halo 2.") Mostly, I saw exactly where he was coming from - but there are a few ideas that make me go "Huh?" (He believes that if you're going to have a hero like the Master Chief in a game, you should not allow him the free will to kill his fellow soldiers.) Anyway - worth a read, for anyone who has a stake in the rating system - this means parents, kids who need to rely on their parents to approve games, and anyone else who needs a way to judge content without having to play it all. (Louis Wu 14:50:58 UTC)
April 11, 2005 Link to this post The Stranger vs Master Chief This... is just a bizarre article to see at a site like HowStuffWorks. (Then again... maybe it's not.) Thanks to Ian Wiseman for the heads-up. (There's voting at the end - be sure to vote.) (Louis Wu 10:41:08 UTC)
April 9, 2005 Link to this post The Chief Walks Away This week's WWU mentioned that there won't be an official Bungie Fanfest at this year's E3. You may wonder, what are we missing by not having one of those? Well, one of the things that happened last year was that Lorraine McLees sketched a bunch of on-demand pictures for lucky visitors. One of those visitors was Eric Good, who asked Lorraine for a specific viewpoint of the Master Chief... he was kind enough to share this pic with the Halo community. Not something you see every day... (Louis Wu 00:05:01 UTC)
April 7, 2005 Link to this post Cool Halo stuff in the UK Michael Smith is selling some promotional Halo schwag he's collected, on eBay.co.uk. (Louis Wu 20:48:25 UTC)
April 6, 2005 Link to this post The Chief - through the eyes of a master A new piece from Craig Mullins today - a spectacular Mullins-esque rendition of the Master Chief. So few strokes... so much detail! Thanks, KP. (It's the last image on the page, if you're having trouble finding it.) (Louis Wu 19:37:22 UTC)
April 1, 2005 Link to this post 117... 58... HIKE! Yahoo! Games Domain has an article about upcoming spinoff titles - Master Chief Football, due out at Christmas, followed by Master Chief Golf and Master Chief Wimbleton 2006 next year. They also mentioned Master Chief Party. Thanks, Uukla the Mok. (Louis Wu 16:58:34 UTC)
April 1, 2005 Link to this post At Last. Not exactly Halo news... but it's near and dear to the hearts of many of our readers. Looks like there WILL be a Bungie-built movie... but it's not Halo. Trading on Halo's buzz factor, Bungie's convinced new studio BraneDamage to create 'Pimps at Sea: Avast Me Bitches', and shooting will begin in August. (There'll be an Xbox2 title released sometime in 2006.) Full details at 1UP.com. Thanks, master chiefie. (Louis Wu 14:19:56 UTC)
April 1, 2005 Link to this post Pretty in Pink. CVG has a story this morning about unlockable content on the upcoming expansion pack - the option to play several levels as a side-scroller. (You won't be playing as the Master Chief, either - you'll be playing as Mistriss Chiefette. Imagine taking on the Library with a handbag (a new weapon being created specifically for this purpose)! Go read. (Louis Wu 11:08:56 UTC)
March 14, 2005 Link to this post The Philips Phile - Halo Style! This is one of the oddest things I've seen - but it's pretty fun. There's a talk radio program in the Orlando, FL market called The Philips Phile - they've got a couple of real Halo fans on staff. (In the past, they've sponsored mini tournaments - Motherstooth made this cool trophy for one.) Now, if you visit their homepage, and look for a picture of a Master Chief with an energy sword, you can follow the link to 'Philips Phile - Halo Style'... a series of videos (made by Motherstooth, hosted by That Weasel) starring the characters of the show in Halo machinima. (For the record, all hosting and moviemaking is done by fans - the radio program is not making any money off of this.) It's probably of most interest to those who know (or at least can hear) the show... but for me, it shows the lengths to which fans will go to show their love. Check it out! (Louis Wu 11:46:48 UTC)
March 1, 2005 Link to this post Geometric plates Alan James continues his work on a Master Chief suit - the main body piece begins to be formed. You'll find the progress shown on his suit page. (Louis Wu 13:48:26 UTC)
February 25, 2005 Link to this post Brian Jarrard Interview Singapore news site The Electric New Paper has an interview with Brian Jarrard, Bungie's Community Guy. Will the Master Chief stop the Covenant? Will there be a Halo 3? A Halo movie? Check it out, and see for yourself! (Heh, not that there are many answers, mind you, but there might be a few hints... ;) Thanks to danbrennan.org for the heads-up. Update: Drat, mnemesis got to this before me... I wanted to also point out a discrepancy in one of their 'did you know?' facts. There's a claim that Halo 2 has sold 15 million copies to date; given that as of January 20 (just over a month ago), they'd sold 6.4 million copies worldwide, this number seems a tad unlikely. I suppose as a TOTAL of all Halo-franchise titles it makes sense (they were at 12 million last month)... [-lwu] (mnemesis 17:05:39 UTC)
February 21, 2005 Link to this post Another handcrafted helmet Recently, we posted a bunch of pictures of a Master Chief suit created by Alan James - today, we've got a helmet from Germain Couët. It's possible he'll continue with the rest of the suit - but for now, he's got some nice headgear! (Louis Wu 04:56:03 UTC)
February 19, 2005 Link to this post Nightmare Armor - maybe your last chance Wow. Webshift (the original webmaster for the Nightmare Armor website, but someone who left the team a ways back) is selling his personal Master Chief full body armor on eBay. Starting bid is $2000 (less than half the price a set would have cost you direct from Nightmare Armor, even if they HADN'T stopped selling it), and there's almost 7 days left in the auction. It's silver, and comes with undersuit and boots, and a storage bin. Check it out. (Louis Wu 06:18:02 UTC)
