Halo 3 takes 6th in GCA GotY voting

Fathom: The Director's Cut
Mythica was hiccuping yesterday (a taste of things to come? Remember, you've only got until the end of this month to download what you want from there), so I wasn't able to announce a Director's Edition (basically, commentary by blackouTT) of Fathom, which had a trailer released last July. If you swing by the HaloGrid forum now, you can find mirrors (WMP9 and QuickTime) being hosted by GamingTV. You might find it interesting to see how these guys worked with each other and put this film together. Mylar Print on eBay
Scanner Darkly is selling a signed, factory-sealed mylar print of Lorraine McLees' classic Halo 2 Chief. You've got a bit over 6 days to decide. Update: There were ANOTHER pair of eBay auctions announced last night on our forum - Nox Invictus is selling action figures. I hadn't realized we were going to get a flood of auction listings when I mentioned the guy who was selling some books; new policy goes into effect now. I won't be front-paging auctions unless I think that what's being sold is unique enough to be of interest to MOST of the community. US Army - Heavy Weapons Training
J23 pointed out that Major Nelson has announced the next entry from the US Army - Heavy Weapons. I couldn't find a consistent way to navigate to this, but the 'Heavy Weapons' banner is in heavy rotation (no pun intended) on the LIVE blades of your 360; it shouldn't be hard to find. Once you navigate to the page, you'll find a new theme, a picture pack, an instructional army video, the ability to register for the next phase of the Army's multipart tournament, and two training vids - shoulder-mounted weapons, and support weapons. Movie Monday
Bunch of movies announced recently on our forum (or via email) - Lordstemplar1 pointed out a teaser for Prophecy Episode 3, Harabek came by with his entry into the Broken Iris contest at HaloGrid, and MR from Running Gun Productions let us know that Spriggs Episode 5 ("Hammer Time!") is now available for download from their website. HAFT finds a new home
On the subject of comics, we're proud to announce that bungie.org has become home to yet ANOTHER Halo comic strip - Elnea's Halo Action Figure Theater can now be found locally. Elnea's done an amazing job of porting over ALL her old HAFT content to a new, easy-to-navigate system based on the ComicPress theme for WordPress - explore, and get lost in this truly bizarre (but surprisingly self-consistent) world! Get Seeded for MLG's 2008 Season - For Free
Wow, very cool. Gilbert Arenas, the sponsor of MLG superstars Final Boss, has announced that he's sponsoring the first online tournament that will determine seeding for the MLG 2008 Pro Circuit - he's paying registration fees for all teams who enter. That's right - you can enter for free, and have a shot at gaining a free slot in the MLG 2008 Pro Circuit. Now THAT'S a nice move! Halo 3 Still Selling Like Hotcakes
VVM noticed a post at MajorNelson.com that updates us all on some sales stats. You might remember that the worldwide numbers at the start of December were a bit below 6 million copies of Halo 3 sold - according to MN, worldwide numbers are now at 8.1 million copies, suggesting that 2.3 million copies were sold in December. (Sounds like a lot of people got Halo 3 for Christmas.) Additionally, a worldwide sales total of 17.7 million Xbox 360s was announced - meaning that across the globe, the attach rate of Halo 3 is an absurd 46%. (That's not quite the 52% figure for the US alone, but still ridiculously high - almost one in two Xbox 360 buyers have also picked up a copy of Halo 3.)

IGN's Best of 2007 Awards
IGN's posted it's Best of 2007 - Halo took Best Online Multiplayer Game and Most Innovative Design, and Bungie's separation from Microsoft took Biggest Surprise. These are all Xbox360 awards - they haven't announced the Overall awards yet (and won't, until January 11). Thanks, Grey Wolf.

Forge Creations - Store 'em at R.net!
We're still getting a bunch of requests to highlight Forge creations; as we mentioned a couple of days ago, Rampancy.net has created a great tool for keeping track of these. There are WAY more maps in our forums and our email boxes than in R.net's database, so I can only assume that people missed the announcement. Therefore, we've repurposed our 'In the Spotlight' front-page block (usually reserved for HBO-specific resources) to highlight exactly that database; it's a great solution, and you should use it. The Word on Forged Map News
Wow. Okay, there's no WAY we're going to be able to satisfy everyone's desire to be front-paged with their latest Foundry creations - we've gotten dozens of announcements about map remakes, or fun gametypes, or whatever... our front page just isn't that big. Someone really needs to set up a database somewhere for Forged creations; I realize there are sites like Forge Hub and H3Forge, but there is nothing that lets people upload pictures and descriptions of their maps, that folks can easily search for what they're looking for. More importantly (for this post), we don't have the resources to be that place. You''re welcome to announce your creation on our forum - but please don't ask us to front-page it. Sorry!
