Announcement: Halo 3 Done Segmented Project
We got word from NOKYARD that the High Speed Halo crew is kicking off a new community speed run project - Halo 3 Done Segmented. (This has already been done with Halo and Halo 2 - the projects let multiple speedrunners contribute their per-level expertise to a product that shows off some of the faster tricks out there. Because the levels are done individually, the runners don't need to be cautious - if something goes wrong, a re-run isn't the end of the world. What the viewer is left with is pure, unadulterated speed. They're currently looking for both runners and suggestions for runners - swing by the dedicated forum and see what you can add! It's Podcast Friday!
Looking over the Halo news today, I saw four separate Halo-related podcasts available for your listening pleasure. Hope you've got a bunch of free time!
- gunn3r11 told us about Drunk on Halo Episode 6 - the podcast of The Spartan Force. Cosplay, rage quitters, and heated arguments are all present.
- CruelLEGACEY sent word of the Waypoint Community Modcast Episode 16. Special guest is DayandKnightly, discussion topics are Spartan Ops, Forward Unto Dawn, and listener questions.
- Tex announced that the podcast she was a guest on last week, 40s and 20s Episode 30, is now live. Really fun listen (though the crew does get drunker - and less accurate - as the 'cast goes forward). Lots of Red vs Blue talk, lots of random stuff. (Check her post for an annotated SoundCloud version and an iTunes link.)
- Josh Holmes participated in Game Informer's weekly podcast, answering (well, not really answering) questions about Halo 4 presented by the GI community. Thanks to both CyReN and Grim. Update: Looks like TheOddOne summarized all the key points in this one over at GAF.

MLG Reduces Its Reach
Some interesting news for the competitive scene as RC Master brought word to our forum that MLG recently announced that while Halo: Reach will be apart of it's offerings in the Spring Season, it won't be apart of the Live events; it will be an online tournament only. It will certainly be interesting to watch as this unfolds to see how not only the community responds, but what might change (if anything) when Halo 4 is released. What do you think? SpartanFinder - coming soon
gunn3r11 sent word that The Spartan Force is looking to test an online service that "will revolutionize gaming and matchmaking". (A quick read of the product announcement suggests it's a friend finder... not sure if that's going to revolutionize anything, but it's probably convenient.) They're looking for testers - all you need to do is join their community. (The actual product will be available "later this year" - it's unclear exactly what that means.) Halo Community 4v4 CTF Tournament

Providing some more details about the launch date announcement as well as the appearance of Team Friki (best thing EVER) on CONAN tonight, it's an update you shouldn't miss. November 6, 2012 will be the call to sickness for Halo fans, as we start a new fight with the Master Chief. Reoccurring Themes
Thanks to Enfinit over at the Waypoint Community for bringing this awesome video to my attention yesterday. It's a set of B-Roll clips from the recent Behind-The-Scenes videos highlighting the announcement of Neil Davidge courtesy of MTV. The brilliance comes through when you listen to the clips of music that the orchestra is playing. If you were worried that Halo 4 would be devoid of some of the gorgeous themes and melodies we've come to know and love... you shouldn't be. Some beautiful snippets of what's to come in there. Halo 4 Composers Announced
Edge Online let the world know (a little earlier than 343 would have liked, I bet) that Halo 4's music is being composed by Neil Davidge and Matt Dunkley - if you have questions, 343 is doing a special Facebook Chat today at 10am PST (with questions accepted at 9:30) - keep your eye on the Xbox Facebook page for full details. (Davidge shouldn't be a new name for most fans following Halo 4's development; we pointed out almost a year ago that he was responsible for the Halo 4 Teaser Trailer's music.) BOB Video Guide Part 7: Exodus
