Calling All Halo Fans
Morpheus pointed out a new section on Xbox LIVE Marketplace - it's in the 'Spotlight' section, and it's entitled 'Calling All Halo Fans'. It contains links to all the downloadable Halo content on LIVE (map packs, games on demand, and avatars/themes), another link to Waypoint, and links to all the Insider videos done about Halo topics. Nice to have everything in one place! (Louis Wu 19:43:39 UTC)

Some of those were... odd.
Apparently, last year's Halo-themed wedding made a list of '15 Insane Weddings' at WeddingABC.net - but don't worry, they're doing great! Their one-year anniversary is right around the corner. Thanks, urk. (Louis Wu 22:38:28 UTC)

Monday Comic Roundup
Just a couple of comics for you this Monday morning - yesterday Hawty McBloggy posted a Christmas-themed Grin + Bear It, and last week, we heard about a comic called 'Mythic Insider' from Tyrant - it's being done by his friend Gazas. (Not sure if it's a one-off, or if that's the beginning of a series...) (Louis Wu 12:49:33 UTC)

Wallpaper and Plushies - what more do you need?
Hawty McBloggy's place is worth visiting this morning - she's got some really nice stuff for you. For folks with an iPhone/iPod Touch, you can snag some very cool Halo Wallpaper, courtesy of Firestream... and for folks jonesing for Halo plushies (okay, okay, that's me, I admit it), a fan has whipped up a really adorable Elite plushie, complete with (soft) energy sword! Go see. (Louis Wu 14:59:06 UTC)

Can Jackal teeth handle sugar?
Hawty McBloggy ran across a fantastic-looking Jackal mask that was in the works for this year's Halloween festivities. (No word on whether it actually got finished in time - this was a work-in-progress pic from early September.) The creator, DeviantART's randomflyingpigeons, is no stranger to Halo-themed Halloween costumes - she went as a Grunt in 2005, and then again in 2008 (and MAN did she get better over those three years!). She does commissions - you might want to start thinking about next year! (Louis Wu 14:50:51 UTC)

Starlight Runner surfaces again
rhubarb noticed a mention in the latest Game Informer of Starlight Runner Entertainment, a company we mentioned in passing back in March. A visit to their website turns up a press kit (thanks, General Vagueness) that contains this intriguing paragraph:

In 2008, Starlight Runner was commissioned by Microsoft to prepare the company's multibillion dollar Halo videogame franchise for a global transmedia relaunch. In addition to expanding the breadth of the property by conceiving a series of allnew storylines, themes and characterizations designed to make the property accessible to a mass audience across multiple media platforms and formats, the Starlight Runner team is also contributing strategies for an integrated rollout for all Halo entertainment content over the next five years.

There's also a link to an interview at All Things Fangirl, with some more discussion of what it is that they actually do (or did, for this franchise). Hmm... (Louis Wu 14:40:17 UTC)

Halo, for clarinet and bassoon
rolandk73 stopped in with word of an arrangement of the Halo theme, for clarinet and bassoon, created by a friend of his. You can download the 5 pages off of TwitPic, or you can grab local copies from us: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5. If you play this... record it and send it in! Update: Chryton points out that this is for Bb Clarinet and Bass Clarinet, not clarinet and bassoon. (Louis Wu 18:37:40 UTC)

HBO Regular wins Mountain Dew ODST Xbox
During the run-up to Halo 3: ODST's launch, Mountain Dew held a sweepstakes in which they gave away one ODST-themed Xbox a day for a month. dCon V won one of these babies - and took some cool pics. Now THAT'S a nice Xbox! (Louis Wu 13:01:05 UTC)

Brood Gurch Blues
nico (the guy behind Red vs Blue's music, among other things) was cleaning out some old projects recently, and found a funny version of Blood Gulch Blues - its existence owes itself partially to a new (for nico, at the time) guitar, a '73 Fender Telecaster Deluxe, and partially to alcohol - the end result is actually pretty cool to listen to. Classic Telecaster sound, interesting improv... degenerating into chaos, of a sort. (He pulls it back together at the end.) He calls it 'Brood Gurch' ('Brood', in this case, rhymes with 'Blood') - it's 2.1 mb in MP3 format. Go listen! If you like this, swing by the Trocadero website; they've just released a new album (Ghosts That Linger), and several of the songs on it are intriguing varations on this theme. (Louis Wu 19:58:22 UTC)

Helljumpers Pumpkin... and shoes.
Hawty McBloggy has a very cool ODST-themed pumpkin on her front page today - go check it out! (I haven't looked yet to see if it's been submitted to our Guilt O' Lantern contest... but it would be a real shame if it's not!) While you're over there, check out the pretty slick-looking Nike Dunk Highs that someone customized with a Master Chief... they're expensive, but man, they look good! (Louis Wu 13:43:19 UTC)

Guilt O' Lantern: Prizes Announced
There are currently only eight entries in the Guilt O' Lantern contest - and we've finally gotten around to posting the prize list. You can win some pretty sweet schwag, just for creating a cool Halo-themed pumpkin - so what are you waiting for? Don't forget, we recently posted both Halo 3 Emblems and Halo 3 Medals in formats that make for great pumpkin stencils! You've got until Midnight (eastern) on Saturday - so get to carving! Cheap Halo Schwag
dCon V pointed out a pretty decent deal on Halo-themed belt buckles and wallets at ThingFling; $9.99 (plus $6 s/h, though that doesn't go up if you buy more than one batch) gets you 10 assorted wallets and buckles. Pretty cheap, given what they USED to sell for! You've got about 14 hours from the time this is being posted... (Louis Wu 13:10:30 UTC)

ODST BMW for Forza Pre-Orders

Now you have a chance to actually grab that car, from Turn 10 - they're giving away three customized cars to folks who have preordered, and that ODST Beemer is one of 'em. Read this page on their blog for full details. Hurry - you've only got until October 26th! Thanks again, urk. (Louis Wu 16:58:42 UTC)

Monday Comic Roundup - with a Bonus!
Some fun stuff today in the comic roundup - we've got our standard Sunday Grin + Bear It (interesting uses for Engineers!), we've got a Halo mention in this morning's AppleGeeks Light (thanks to many, first was Jim 028) - this explains a LOT of things - and we've got a very special treat for you. Stuntmutt's back, just for the week, with some new ODST-themed One One Se7en strips! First up - Phony. Here's hoping you like bad puns and bad art - because he's here all week! Try the Kig-yar. Update: OMG, it's TWO strips back from the dead! Halo Action Figure Theater has not one, but TWO updates - there's a guest strip by OboeCrazy yesterday... and a brand-new regular-storyline strip from Elnea which recaps what happened the last time this strip was live (back in June) - and opens the door for a bigger story. Hmm... I wonder if we'll get new strips from ZZoMBiE13, Paul Maestri, or Blackstar this week? (Louis Wu 13:47:28 UTC)

Wall Mania
How would it be going to sleep every night, dreaming of Master Chief? Hawty McBloggy found someone who probably knows - since the wall of the bedroom is covered with a Halo mural. Nice work! (Louis Wu 13:08:58 UTC)
