An Apology
There has been lots of Halo news this week - but our active staff is finding it difficult to actually... well, update. (There is activity on our Twitter account, since it's easier to update that from the show floor, but the front page is being sadly neglected, and for that, I'm sorry.) Here's a promise that we'll get ourselves up to date in the next few days, and we should have some interesting information to share about the Master Chief Collection... but today is another quiet day. Old, new, and Halo 2
The details continue to pour out about the Master Chief collection - as I said to a number of 343 employees yesterday, it looks like I'll be buying an Xbox One sooner than I expected. If you're excited about the details, jump into the conversations on our forum - lots of the little tidbits have been collected by various forumgoers. Late to the party on this one, but earlier this morning during the Xbox press briefing, 343 Industries spilled the beans and revealed the Master Chief Collection for Xbox One. There's a post up on Waypoint with all the juicy details. Go read!

Serious Halo Schwag
Noah Gallup (a name that might ring a bell for some longer-term Halo fans) has a bunch of Halo memorabilia that he's decided to sell - you can swing by eBay to see the links. There are some very rare and very interesting pieces - a Joyride Series 1 Cortana figure, a pair of really amazing Muckle Master Chiefs (I have one, they're gorgeous), and more. For the serious collector, this cache is absolutely worth exploring. Some of the auctions have nearly a week left, while others have only a couple of days - so look soon! (As a side note, writing this has made me realize that Noah's 2005 video was one of the casualties of a server loss in 2010 - I'm going to look into putting a new copy online soon. I don't have a digital version left, but I'm pretty sure I still have one of the DVDs. It was a fascinating view of a Halo fan's excitement for Halo 2's release.) (Louis Wu 16:50:33 UTC)

Rebuilding the Series for XB1
Engadget has a story (unconfirmed at this point) about a product called 'Halo: The Master Chief Collection' - Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4 are being put together in a remaster for Xbox One. Details on what that means, exactly, are pretty sketchy (and MS isn't even acknowledging that the project exists). More when we know it! Thanks to Gravemind, who noticed this at IGN. Halo 4 Music at a pretty good price
Morpheus pointed out a nice bundle at Amazon - it includes the original soundtrack from Halo 4 (on CD and vinyl), the bonus remix CD, the Making of Halo 4 Music DVD (and book), an art print, and a signed Master Chief poster. And a t-shirt. Package price - $35. (Remember - the Vinyl LE, all by itself, was $75 when it was released.) Not too shabby! (Louis Wu 16:40:47 UTC)

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
VideoGamer.com noticed a Halo Waypoint tweet posted earlier this week - a suggestion that the return of Master Chief might be coming sooner than we thought. Is this a coy denial of the rumor that Halo 5 (or whatever it's called) has been pushed back to 2015? Or is it a hint that we might see a new title (maybe Halo 2 Anniversary) sooner than the 2014 holiday season? Or is it just a piece of fan art that someone at Waypoint liked enough to retweet? 'I need a new edition'
And the stories about Halo 2 Anniversary (and the often-connected rumors of a delay in the first Xbox One title from 343) continue to swirl - GameZone says that in a recent interview they did with Steve Downs (the voice of Master Chief), Downes confirmed both that Halo 2 Anniversary will be coming this year... and Halo 5 (or whatever it's going to be called) will not. Still no word from 343, either way. Update: looks like the wording in the GameZone transcript might have been a little overstated. A Facebook conversation was posted on NeoGAF yesterday, in which Downes stepped back from any real confirmation. Thanks, DEEP NNN. (Louis Wu 23:57:01 UTC)

Catching up while we're behind
Apologies for the lack of Halo news yesterday; blame a broken washing machine and a slightly obsessive family member for my inability to find updating time. Halo Waypoint had no such trouble; their weekly Halo Bulletin was posted as expected, on time. It's full of stuff you'd expect to see - details on upcoming playlist changes, fun tidbits about the office, a blurb about Mortal Dictata, the third book in Karin Traviss' Halo trilogy that will be out next week... but there's also a pretty cool interview with a female Master Chief. Why I Game
This isn't really Halo-related, but it's video-game related, and the submitter shows up around here quite a bit. Gina 'Dogiojoe' Johnson has just kicked off a Kickstarter campaign for a book she's written called 'Why I Game' - it's a response to the 'video games are responsible for violence' reaction after many gun-related tragedies in this country.
