An Old Bungie Boy's New Toys
While not Halo-specific, news just came down via the Bungie Twitter feed that former Bungie co-founder Alex Seropian has started a new mobile-game development studio called Industrial Toys aimed at the "core gamer". More info can be found in this article from Pocketgamer. Good luck, Alex! (GrimBrother One 17:31:22 UTC)

Only 51 betrayals? For shame.
Revenant1988 wrote up some highlights of the HBO-fueled matchmaking evening he hosted last week - and included plenty of screenshots and clips. Go check it out - and if you like what you see, remember to join in next time! (Louis Wu 16:10:49 UTC)

Thanks For The Continuing Legacy, Brian
We start off today's news on a more emotional note... HBO stalwart mad.max paid us a visit to remind us all that it's been a staggering nine years ago now since the Halo - and more specifically Bungie - community lost one of its brightest beacons, Brian Morden, or *Ar-Isildur as he was known to many. His post gives a link as well to the Foundation set up in his name. If you were never privileged to meet his acquaintance, you'll want to check out this link, which will give you a glimpse into this amazing person's life. If you get a chance, stop by the forums and celebrate his legacy by sharing a story. Leaving readers with a good memory and a big smile has to be the best way to remember such an awesome friend. See Now They're Just Toying With Us
Halo Waypoint has given us one of our first proper looks at some of the upcoming figures from McFarlane Toys, including a prototype of the Halo 4 Master Chief. Definitely go and give it a look, and then drop back by our forum and discuss it in this thread started by prominent HBO-er Hyokin. Go look! (GrimBrother One 05:12:55 UTC)

So I Was Hunting Some Moa...
HAL0 M4N wanted to share a new machinima project he has started called "Requiem". The first episode can be found here. While you can definitely tell some of the VO is still trying to find its footing, it has some neat action and an interesting concept. Also, I laughed out loud at "But that's...illegal." It only clocks in just over 2 minutes, so give it a chance! (GrimBrother One 14:18:45 UTC)

Tyrant's Halo 3 Legendary Walkthrough - Tsavo Highway
The Tyrant has released his Legendary Walkthrough of Halo 3's Tsavo Highway - Brutes galore! The video itself is about 13 and a half minutes long, but Tyrant was having issues with his computer recently; there's 20+ minutes of blackscreen at the end of it. Not to worry, though; the video contains all the tips and tricks you'll need to beat this level on Legendary, with a bunch of skulls (though not all) on! (Louis Wu 23:18:21 UTC)

What is Halo - to you?
Leviathan stopped by in the early-morning hours to start one of those threads that just makes me happy. He wanted to know: What is "Halo"? When I first started reading, I worried that there would be a lot of arguing about TUs and Assault Rifles... but there doesn't seem to be much, if any, of that. Instead, it's all about what brings people back, day after day, week after week, year after year. It's uplifting. Go read - and contribute! (Louis Wu 17:55:30 UTC)

Capturing a Community Convocation
Passion. Courage. Valor. Honor. All of these words have one thing in common... they all have two syllables. I made a two-syllable sound when I saw these latest screenshots by Hedgemony as well, but I'm not allowed to repeat it in a newspost. Go and see last night's HBO Community Customs adventure through the eyes and the lens of an outback genius. You won't be disappointed. (GrimBrother One 16:23:41 UTC)

A bit about Bungie Pro
Roger 'Sawnose' Wolfson posted in Bungie.net's forum yesterday to clarify a little about the Bungie Pro service - what will happen on March 31, and what will happen further down the road. (His first post started that thread, and the followup, with more Halo-specific info, is here.) (Louis Wu 17:16:10 UTC)

Halo Data to migrate from B.net before April
If you swing by Bungie.net, you'll see a new article - it puts a final date on the live Halo data they'll be able to manage. That date is March 31 - after that point, all stats (and any other online features related to Halo games) will be found only on Halo Waypoint. Here's hoping that Waypoint stats can be fleshed out a bit more, and features like film clips and screenshots can be migrated by then! (Historical data isn't going anywhere; Bungie will continue to maintain what they already have online. They simply will not be adding NEW data after that date.) (Louis Wu 19:45:14 UTC)

Hedge's Pics Always Get My Pulse Racing
Today's HBO update comes to you live from the media center at Daytona International Speedway, where your race-weathered Grim has ducked into to keep race fans informed of of various speedy-goings on, and Halo fans informed of our favorite franchise. We're now into the 19th hour into the Rolex 24 Hours, and normally, it's hard for me to feel like much compares to the raw and elegant beauty of a proper race car at speed. However, our beloved Hedgemony certainly makes a strong push for top spot on the podium with his latest round of gorgeous screenshots and panos from the most recent Community Customs night. They have awakened my tired and sleepy eyes, and I think they'll do the same for you... check it out! (GrimBrother One 16:07:03 UTC)

Quack Quack Quack
Three days, three new comics from pete_the_duck. Four, actually. His anti-SOPA entry made me put my thumbs up, I AM HAVING SO MUCH FUN gives you his view of Armor Lock, and The oldest question, answered made me laugh out loud. Start your weekend with some Halo-related duck humor! (Louis Wu 21:26:57 UTC)

The Pentathlon Awaits
The Halo content is so slim as to be invisible (it consists of a couple of video screens in a single photo), but the Bungie Pentathlon is an annual event of great importance to Bungie employees (and Bungie fans) - and we're pretty big Bungie fans here, so we're gonna tell you about the latest article on Bungie.net. Deej has written up a nice summary of this year's event (which takes place tomorrow), including a mini-interview with Dave Dunn. For the first time in a really long time, there are no Halo games at all in the lineup. Wonga! We'll still be roothing for the Grizzled Ancients, though, cause old people have to stick together. Go read about it! (Louis Wu 17:46:30 UTC)

The Tyrant has kicked off his Halo 3 Legendary Guide on YouTube, with a half-hour commentated run through Sierra-117. Skips, tricks, tips for staying alive - this video will help you survive your way through the start of the Halo 3 campaign! The video has a special guest appearance from Steve 'Master Chief' Downes, and apparently, later today there will be a question posted to Tyrant's Twitter feed that will give you a chance to win a free Avatar code. Community Custom Carnage on Camera
If you've never join in one of the HBO-grown Community Customs events, MixMaster1 stopped by with an awesome reason to start doing so. Check out the awesome highlight video he put together from the last event. Great editing, cool music, and commentary from the players in-game! An excellent watch with some pretty darn hilarious moments. Check it out, and keep an eye on our forums for the next event so you can participate yourself! (GrimBrother One 18:59:31 UTC)

Waypoint can fill your Sunday
If you're feeling like watching some Halo videos or checking out some cool screenshots, but don't know what's new, Waypoint has what you need. Check out the Waypoint Weekly Wrap-up for links to all the new content they've posted this past week (some we've already covered, plenty we haven't). If that's not enough for you, there's also some cool Featured Content that isn't in that list: HaloTracker's January Top 5 covers No-scopes, a replay of a classic Vintage Fisticuffs highlights the original game's Two Betrayals level, and the Stride Championship Series is up to Match 5, with Roy and Lunchbox fighting iGotUrPistola AND Ogre 2. Content out the yin-yang! (Louis Wu 16:28:27 UTC)

Play HCEA, Fly to LA
Wow - I'm not sure I understand how Halo Anniversary plays in all this... but G4TV has an announcement about a sweepstakes being conducted by Xbox LIVE, in relation to the upcoming movie Underworld Awakening. If you download the official Gamer Picture during the prize period (one of which ends tonight, and the next of which starts tomorrow), you will be entered into a sweepstakes whose winner will fly to LA in May for an Attack of the Show episode. Apparently, there's a dusk-till-dawn session of Halo Anniversary being scheduled this weekend as part of this promotion - but I can't find any info about that specifically. Thanks, ElzarTheBam! Rare Mylar Print Auctions
I totally missed this when it came in on Thursday - but luckily, there are still 4 days left. invisiblecatfish sent word that he'd found some Halo Mylar prints on eBay - these don't come up very often! There's a Halo 2 Chief, one of Eddie Smith's Halo 2 'Scarab Assault' prints, and a Halo 3 'Ark Storm' (I missed this one when it came out originally). Bids end Wednesday, around 7:30pm PST (see the auction pages for exact timing) - starting bids are $100 (for Scarab Assault) and $125 (for the Chief and Ark Storm, each). (Louis Wu 20:08:23 UTC)
