New Halo 4 Screens appear
Looks like a content embargo was supposed to end sometime today - Halo 4 assets showed up on Famitsu, in Japan, as well as allgamesbeta, and a French gaming blog. I haven't seen them on any official press outlets yet - but they're all over the internet, so it seems pointless to avoid mentioning them. They run the gamut from character shots to concept art to in-game screens - for folks drooling in anticipation of news about Halo 4, it's a goldmine! (Tom Van Sinden 16:31:48 UTC)

If you want to play low-res Halo 4, you can
For folks who watched Game Informer's interview with Brad Welch yesterday, and got nervous with his comment that the multiplayer splitscreen support was "four-player split locally, two player online"... don't worry, he was talking about Coop play there. Standard multiplayer still supports 4-player splitscreen online. Thanks to Frank O'Connor for clarification. (Tom Van Sinden 18:39:38 UTC)

117 Returns on 11-6
Halo Waypoint gave us a special announcement this morning by revealing the launch date of Halo 4! November 6, 2012 will be the call to sickness for Halo fans, as we start a new fight with the Master Chief. In a cool twist, the folks over at Rooster Teeth got involved to help give the announcement. You can catch both of the Red vs Blue announcement shorts (US | International) over at Halo Waypoint. Check them out! (GrimBrother One 15:35:50 UTC)

Our Favorite Blue Lady Will Sound the Same
I'm pretty sure we knew this already, but just in case... Jeff Steitzer recently confirmed that Jen Taylor is returning to her role as Cortana in Halo 4. (It's the same thread on Facebook as we mentioned last week; again, if you don't have a Facebook account, here's a screenshot of the discussion.) Thanks, Der Flatulator. That needler ROCKS.
Tex stopped in last night with news of a really cool chainmaille Grunt. (I wanted to know more about chainmaille, the artform of weaving metal - there's a lot out there, so be sure you've got time if you start googling!) This guy is adorable. (Tom Van Sinden 12:58:39 UTC)

That's one less enemy to worry about...
Interesting confirmation - over at the Waypoint forums, Frankie has confirmed that you will not be fighting the Flood in Halo 4. Thanks to NeoGAF's TheOddOne, who posted a screenshot if you are having trouble logging into Waypoint's forums but would still like to see the post. (Tom Van Sinden 14:38:03 UTC)

Gained the Lead.
For folks who wondered if the Voice of God would be familiar in Halo 4's multiplayer... wonder no more. Unfortunately, you have to be logged in to read it - so here's a screenshot for non-Facebook-users. (Thanks, CyReN.) (Tom Van Sinden 19:03:51 UTC)

Rooster Teeth Goodies from PAX East
PAX East is well underway at this point, and although I can't find video footage of the Community Panel that our own GrimBrother One participated in (yet), there are some interesting clips up on the official PAX Live Stream. The Rooster Teeth crew showed a scene from Season 10 yesterday - if you'd rather see it in its hi-res glory, wait until it's out for real (Memorial Day 2012 is when the season kicks off), but if you're just dying for a taste, the action's pretty hot. There's also a film of the full Rooster Teeth panel (which starts with a trailer for RvB Season 10 - no spoilers here - and also contains the scene mentioned above). Go watch! (Speaking of Rooster Teeth, this tweet from Jack Patillo might excite some of you (thanks, bryan newman) - if you DO watch that scene, you can hear Wood's voice right near the end.) Halo Documentary
Huh. There's a passionate group of gamers turned filmmakers who want to show you how Halo has changed the world of gaming, and our culture - and they've turned to Kickstarter as a way to make it happen. They need $80,000, and they've given themselves just over a month to collect it. Swing by the page and read about the project (they've also got a Facebook page and a Twitter feed, though it seems to have been suspended) - see if you think they're worth tossing some cash to! Remember: Kickstarter projects require full funding before any money is collected; if you pledge some money, and they don't hit their $80,000 goal, you're not out a penny. Thanks to CYBRFRK for the heads-up. (Louis Wu 16:44:34 UTC)

Time to pull out the broom...
Okay, let's start the day off with a quick summary of some of the Halo 4 stuff we missed yesterday - I'm guessing the flood of info will settle down into a much more reasonable flow going forward.

  • NeoGAF's Devolution was invited at the last minute to participate in the Spring Showcase event last week - not because she's a member of the press, but because she's a fan, and she lives in San Francisco (where the event was held), and the stars lined up. Her writeup of the evening has a different flavor than the stuff you've probably seen from journalists - since YOU'RE probably a fan, too, you should read it. I've linked to a repost, because it's in a currently-live thread, if you want to participate in the discussion.
  • GiantBomb released their video overview of the whole event (the Halo content starts here) - they know what they're talking about, and their points are salient. Thanks, Zeouterlimits.
  • Gamerlive.tv has an interview with Kiki Wolfkill - not a huge amount of content, but an interesting read nonetheless.
  • G4TV's Adam Sessler sat down with Frank O'Connor and Kiki Wolfkill - it's amazing how much you can cover in a couple of minutes. Thanks, CyReN.
  • NowGamer bulleted what they thought was important from the Spring Showcase info dump - nice summary.
  • OKM took a look at some comments by Frank O'Connor about how Halo 4 is pushing the Xbox360 to its limits (this is a GOOD thing, unless your machine is near the end of its life). Thanks, Kibbles.
  • Enfinit stopped in to let us know that he's compiled a list of all Halo 4-related content - not just from yesterday, but ALL content. And not just articles, but screenshots, animated gifs, you name it. You need to visit Halo Waypoint to see the list. (As we mentioned yesterday, Forward Unto Dawn's Halo 4 Reveal Hub plays a similar role, though it's focused on what was released yesterday.) Looking over both of these, there are a couple of articles I might have missed - so go check 'em for yourself!

I'm sure there'll be more content as the day goes on - but it won't be anywhere near as overwhelming as yesterday! (Louis Wu 13:36:46 UTC)

Kill 'em all... you know the rest

CyReN stopped by yesterday to point out that Dave 'Walshy' Walsh has officially announced his retirement from Major League Gaming, and will be commentating instead, starting in Columbus at the end of this month. Funding the Arts - in a really cool way
OboeCrazy stopped in to announce a new Kickstarter program; she'd love to make Oboe music in cool places (especially married to videogames, Halo in particular), but needs your help to afford equipment and travel expenses! Go read the page for full details - and remember, like any Kickstarter project, she only gets funded if her pledge level reaches her goal. You can get her there! (Louis Wu 12:48:11 UTC)
