The Spartan Effect Episode 6
Eddie, from Rookie Rabbit Productions, let us know that Episode 6 of the Spartan Effect has been posted on their site. We've put up local mirrors of the WMP9 and QuickTime hi-res versions, because they're worried about Filefront links, and because this is a decent series. The Spartan Effect: Episode 5
A couple of days ago, Rookie Rabbit Productions released The Spartan Effect: Episode 5. It's up to their usual standards (check our news archive for older episodes), and they've asked for some hosting help, so that folks don't have to deal with FileFront if they don't want to - we're happy to oblige. You can grab the original WMP9 file (61.5) or a re-encoded QuickTime (58.5 mb) from our servers. (Their server has links to many other flavors; if you'd rather watch this on YouTube, you certainly can.)

The Spartan Effect, Episode 4
Eddie, from Rookie Rabbit Productions, sent us a note to let us know that The Spartan Effect, Episode 4 is now online. It's funny, it's well-filmed, go download it. (If you've missed the first three eps, we announced them here: One | Two | Three.) Because their downloadable versions are hosted at Filefront (which sort of makes you jump through hoops to download), and because the QuickTime versions are encoded with h.264 (which is fantastic - but only on higher-end processors), we're offering local downloads for all four flavors of the episode, with S3Pro-encoded QuickTimes. Grab it in High Res (640x360): WMP9 (55 mb) or QuickTime (58 mb), or Low Res (320x180): WMP9 (26.3 mb) or QuickTime (24.5 mb). The Spartan Effect, Episode 3
Rookie Rabbit Productions are back with Episode 3 of their Spartan Effect series; it passed the MPRRS with flying colors. There's not a lot of action in this episode, but it pushes the plot forward, and it's funny. Very well-filmed (great camera angles), and nice voice acting. Lots of goodies if you keep your eyes open. It's big - 10 minutes long, about 80 mb, depending on version - but definitely worth watching. They've said they don't need hosting - but they've said that before, and it hasn't turned out so well, so we're putting up mirrors anyway. The WMP9 we're hosting (81.5 mb) is the same as you can download from FileFront, off their site - but the QuickTime version (78 mb) is re-encoded, and deinterlaced (the interlacing was getting distracting). The Spartan Effect: Episode 2
The MPRRS went into something of a hibernation over the weekend... but a little kick-start this morning got reviewers reviewing again, and a movie stuck in the queue for 5 days was spit out this afternoon, with pretty high marks. It's 'The Spartan Effect: Episode 2', from Rookie Rabbit Productions, and it continues the story of a team of Spartans faced off against the Covenant in Containment. This episode is as funny as the first one, with very high production values. Looking forward to future episodes! But let's not get ahead of ourselves... grab a copy of Episode 2, in either WMP9 format (61.9 mb) or QuickTime format (53.4 mb), and get laughing! (Louis Wu 17:00:05 UTC)

The Spartan Effect: Episode 1 (Redux)
Rookie Rabbit Productions sent along 'The Spartan Effect: Episode 1' for review; they said they didn't need hosting, so we posted a note about this earlier today... but apparently, even just the HTML hits were killing them, so we pulled the post. I've gotten local versions posted, however, so I'm putting this back. It's the story of a rookie Spartan sent to the wrong base on Containment... gotta love the military. The MPRRS found it funny and well-filmed, so we're announcing it - you can grab it in WMP9 format (48 mb) or QuickTime format (49 mb) from us.
