VGL Soundtrack, including Halo music, coming soon
Ross Mills noticed that Video Games Live is releasing Greatest Hits, Volume 1 in a couple of weeks - and Halo will be among the games featured on the disc. Ross provides an Amazon.co.uk link to purchase - or you can grab it from the US Amazon. Details on the recording itself can be found at Kotaku. (Louis Wu 22:06:33 UTC)

HMV - Bohemian Rhapsody
Back in 2003, Ross Mills created a Halo music video set to Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody', using footage from Halo. There've been versions since then... but today HeavenlyYeti pointed out a Halo 3 version posted on YouTube back in March, created by a group known as Frenchie Films Productions - pretty nice work! Check it out. (Louis Wu 17:29:07 UTC)

Weta's headed to London on May 24
Ross Mills noticed a tiny reference in the writeup for the London Movie Comic Media expo, coming in late May - Weta workshops will be there, with (among a lot of other things) "A sneak preview of the new Halo range of Collectibles, featuring Master Chief." Nice! (Louis Wu 16:01:57 UTC)

The Halo Shoe - from Adidas this time
Ross Mills pointed out a blog post at Complex.com that looks at a new, ultra-limited run of Halo-themed shoes, created by Adidas for Gil Arenas. ("Ultra-limited" means 100 pairs, total. No, you're not getting one.) Narcogen mentioned this as well, though he found it at Kotaku (who, in turn, got it from Complex). This means different things to different people - read each site's spin (and toss your own comments into the thread Ross started). (Louis Wu 13:45:43 UTC)

Thought I'd clean my way out.
As Ross Mills says, this is probably stretching it, but... OhGizmo compares the new Samsung Silencio Cylinder Vacuum to MC's helmet. When you're done sniggering, you'll have to admit... there IS a slight resemblance. (Louis Wu 23:10:55 UTC)

Arby 'n' the Chief
Ross Mills let us know about "Arby 'n' the Chief", a new video from DigitalPh33r and a sequel to the 'Master Chief Sucks at Halo' series. (Note to Ross: links r gud.) It's pretty funny, even if a large chunk of it is just a discussion of the value of the Heroic Map Pack. (At least it's an entertaining discussion.) Go watch! (Louis Wu 18:11:02 UTC)

Halo dominates top LIVE Titles of 2007
Major Nelson has posted a summary of the top LIVE titles of 2007 - and Halo tops two of the three lists. Halo 3 is the top Xbox 360 title of the year (not bad, given that it only had 3 months to build up the largest number of Unique Users), and Halo 2 is on the top of the Original Xbox list. Thanks, Ross Mills. (Louis Wu 17:56:10 UTC)

What will you put on your tombst- erm, tree?
Heh - I'm guessing there'll be a lot of Christmas trees this year which have a Legendary helmet on top, in place of a star or an angel. We've already had word of a pair of them - S Assassin sent us pics of his tree, and Ross Mills found one on Digg. (Louis Wu 12:55:05 UTC)

Ross Mills noticed a Kotaku story on a 'Mummy Chief', over at Gearbox's offices... but I gotta wonder, wouldn't they take the armor off first? (Louis Wu 22:03:01 UTC)

Kitt talks Halo 3
Kitt, a Fragdoll who lives in the UK, discussed Halo 3 for about 7 minutes on this videoblog. She invented a word I like quite a lot - 'intrepidation'. I'm gonna be looking for places to use that one. Beyond that, she has some interesting things to say about the game. Stay away from her when she's got a sword... thanks, Ross Mills. Ross Goes Hunting for News
Ross Mills found a couple of interesting articles - he mentioned one in which a Eurogamer reviewer commented in his blog about how unpleasant the actual review process for Halo 3 was, and another, over at GamesIndustry.biz, which looks at the way Halo 3 bridges the hardcore gamer community with 'the mainstream'. Give 'em a read! (Louis Wu 19:40:47 UTC)

Monday Morning's Review Lineup
A few reviews for you from around the web:

  • Lancaster Online says Halo 3 is a good reason to buy an Xbox 360.
  • Something Awful gave it a 26/50, campaign was a moldy potato to go with the multiplayer steak (thanks, Ross Mills)
  • Talk Xbox did a video review, and gave it an 'enjoyable' - the highest category the reviewer had.
  • The Village Voice gave it a 9/10 - they weren't thrilled with the graphics, but they loved the gameplay.

Wide-ranging... (Louis Wu 13:26:27 UTC)

The Uncyclopedia page about Halo has been around for a while - but it's gotten a bunch of updates recently, and it's more surreal than ever now. Thanks to Ross Mills for reminding us to revisit. (Louis Wu 10:32:21 UTC)
