Halo 2 Main Theme For Piano
There's another piece of Halo sheet music for piano up at Rampancy.net - spartan182 transcribed the Halo 2 main theme. Currently available only in Finale Notepad format (though PDF is coming soon, apparently), and remember, you won't see a download link unless you're logged in. (Louis Wu 15:28:56 UTC)

RvB vid, theme on XBLM
According to Major Nelson, there's a new Red vs Blue Holiday Video, and a Theme for your 360, available on Xbox Marketplace. (No pictures I can find online, yet.) Thanks, darthbob100. (Louis Wu 18:13:19 UTC)

Commercial Theme on XBLM
There's a new 360 Theme available on XBL Marketplace, based on images from the commercial - it's 150 points, and LordGideon kindly provided screenshots of all four blades. They're all 1280x1024, and weigh in at around 200kb each.

Libertyville Halo Theme Professionally Recorded
Mateo sent word that the Libertyville High School Band (Corporeal), some folks who recorded a kickass version of the Halo theme a few months ago, have professionally recorded the Halo portion of their performance. You can hear it at their MySpace link above, or, if you're allergic to MySpace (as I am), you can hear the mp3 on our servers (3.7 mb). (Louis Wu 18:21:26 UTC)

Master Idiot Returns
Mintz, in what might be in the running for the most annoying email EVAR, which even included some insults to the perfectly innocent Frag Qu33n, sends word of a Halo-themed strip of Game Boyz, which ran last Wednesday. An honest mistake, no? (Louis Wu 18:14:32 UTC)

Halo on a Marimba
Nice - ibshimo2 found a YouTube video showing PinoyFiesta playing the Halo theme... on a marimba. Great job! (Louis Wu 23:57:48 UTC)

Halo 3 Theme from VGL
XBWFeenix went to the Video Games Live show in London this weekend, and shakey-cammed the Halo 3 theme performance. (He had a press pass, but the attendant didn't understand - hence the subterfuge.) Link is in his forum post. (Louis Wu 19:31:55 UTC)

The Melody
Jamie98s let us know about a new movie he'd completed, 'The Melody'. The MPRRS is still closed for reconstruction, but I found The Melody to be an interesting departure from the normal Halo fare, so I told him I'd host it. You can grab it in WMP9 format (56.7 mb) or QuickTime format (50 mb) - Jamie's movies usually have great cinematics and composition, but this one adds some funky post-production editing for a really unusual story. Check it out! Update: This has now been mirrored at GamingTV - thanks, trigger119! (Louis Wu 20:50:47 UTC)

More Midi Halo Stuff
BlueDingo5 sent along three new Midi pieces - the full Halo 3 music, the full Halo Wars theme, and Pursuit of Truth (full, with chords). The archive is a tiny 7K, zipped. He figured out the notes with his keyboard, recorded them, then USB'd them to a freeware midi program for saving. There might be a couple of small mistakes, but mostly he wanted to say thanks to Marty O'Donnell for the initial work. Check these out! (Louis Wu 13:44:55 UTC)

HHMD
Joystiq, in order to brighten your mood a bit, has dug up a few video performances of the Halo theme for your enjoyment. None are new, but they're nice to have all together! (To be honest, I'd never heard the guitar solo before.) Thanks, 3Suns. (Louis Wu 00:26:41 UTC)

New Halo Trilogy Theme Available
Dolbex pointed out a post on Major Nelson's blog announcing a new Halo Trilogy theme for the Xbox360 - "Each blade presents a re-imagined view from the Halo universe, including all three iterations of the Master Chief's iconic Spartan armor, from past, present and future." 150 points, or free with the purchase of a Halo 3 faceplate. It's not yet available for preview on the Xbox.com Themes page, but it probably will be soon. (Louis Wu 14:25:26 UTC)

Halo Who?
Elnea mashed up the theme from Doctor Who with the Halo theme... what came out was pretty cool. (She also created some artwork for this - you can find it in her gallery here.) On the off-chance her .Mac site runs out of bandwidth, the mashup is mirrored here. Go listen! (She originally posted this in her RvB journal - I can't remember if this is visible without an account there or not.) (Louis Wu 15:09:34 UTC)

HW Marketplace Goodies
Last week, after Halo Wars was announced, Xbox Live Marketplace made available both new gamertag icons and a 360 Halo Wars Theme - we didn't get around to pointing them out, though other sites have. Thanks to c0ld vengeance for the reminder. (Louis Wu 15:15:59 UTC)

Halo-Battle
CupiD-082 pointed out Halo-Battle, a Halo-themed MMO-RTS based on the online game Ogame. It's being developed by French fans, so the website is currently in French - but they're planning on making the final version bilingual. Check 'em out! (In light of the recent events surrounding Halogen, we should make clear that we're not publicizing this without the permission of the crew.) (Louis Wu 13:55:46 UTC)

Libertyville High Halo - Bigger, Badder, Uncompressed
A couple of days ago, we mentioned a performance piece that had been YouTubed - a bunch of folks in high school, playing self-arranged Halo music to their peers. It was a pretty impressive piece; even Marty O'Donnell weighed in with praise. Well, over the next day or so, a bunch of the people involved stopped by the thread (Corey Richardson, on quads, Dave Verlee, on guitar (and the one behind the transcription and arrangement), Hanah Stuart, on violin) - and we have more content for you. Dave pointed out another YouTubed film of the performance - different lighting, different angle, more closeups - and then Corey provided us with a much higher-res version for download. It's 768x576 pixels, and available in either WMP9 format (109 mb) or QuickTime format (107 mb). If you haven't seen it, grab a copy now. If you have - this version's way better. A bunch of friends put together a pretty cool entry for their high school talent show... great video game music (primarily from Halo). Even Marty liked it! Go watch. Thanks, Eastbeast314. (Louis Wu 21:09:04 UTC)

Beautiful Music
Wow, very cool. TheGarbageMan posted a whole series of Halo theme variation sketches - there are 10 snippets, all for piano, plus some commentary. Great stuff! (If we kill his bandwidth, we'll certainly put up local copies.) (Louis Wu 19:52:34 UTC)

jdogmoney's Nigh Impossible Contest Extravaganza!
jdogmoney kicked off another contest on our forum - again, no prizes (this seems to be a theme these days), but it's an interesting premise - come up with something nobody else can do (within Halo), and post it in the thread (preferably with proof). More specific rules are listed in the post. Check it out! (Louis Wu 14:32:20 UTC)

7 on the 7th - Crotchety Old Man Edition
It's been a little while (okay, 3 months) since our last 7 on the 7th Contest - but hey, somebody's got to watch for aliens! So now it's summer (at least in the northern hemisphere), and thoughts turn to the outdoors - so what better way to give away Bungie shwag than to require creative outdoor art? To win this contest, we need pictures of your lawn, with a Halo theme in it. (Cut the image, take a picture, finish the lawn - nobody'll ever know.) You have a few other options - go read the full contest rules. And get to planning - we need pictures by a week from Sunday if you want to win stuff! (What can you win, I hear you ask... heh. It's a surprise. But it's coming from Bungie, so you know it's good.) Now get off my lawn! (Louis Wu 16:16:30 UTC)

If you missed it then, go watch it now! (Louis Wu 16:20:06 UTC)

Cookout! Grenades! Cake!
rapture sent word that recently the Hushed Casket held a LANfest - 'Cookout! Grenades! 2' - to celebrate one member's house purchase and the anniversary of the first Cookout! Grenades! LAN (with a shout-out to Midnight, who couldn't be there because he's in Iraq)... and of course, they had a Halo-themed cake (pic 1 | pic 2). Nice! (Louis Wu 17:05:45 UTC)
