Haloplayers is back!
Whoa - nice design! Haloplayers, one of the old guard Halo sites, lost its domain name a little while back... but they've taken a new one - RealHaloplayers.com - and are back and better than ever! (If you can't see 'em yet, the DNS changes haven't propagated - be patient.) Classy new design, a serious focus on the multiplayer community... these guys are ready to rock. Check 'em out! Movie update
Quick note, on this most hectic of all weekends: Narcogen, of Rampancy.net, points out that Blackstar Productions is now hosting its own movies ('Halo: The Movie' and the Halo Movie Teaser). Check 'em out for more details! (We've added these to the 'Halo: The Movie' mirrors list - we still need to compile a mirrors list for the teaser - and have removed the R.net mirrors. The updated Movies page, containing all movies released in the past several months, should be online sometime this weekend... hopefully.) (Louis Wu 18:14:15 UTC)

8 new One-Shots
The One-Shots page finally got its update - 8 new images, submitted up to 3 weeks ago. (They're all dated today, because it makes more sense to me that way.) Check 'em out! Next up - the 9 new tricks submitted since Friday's major update... (look for it tomorrow, or the next day.) Note: If I missed your One-Shot submission (and I very well could have), drop me some mail. I'll get it up in the next batch, or I'll explain to you why not. (Louis Wu 02:23:01 UTC)

Movies are fun
ShdwPnthr points out a pair of movies he's made - one shows the carnage you can wreak with the chaingun on the Warthog (I'd have done a bit more driving damage before getting in the back; you suffer less personal damage that way, but the wreckage is undeniably vast in any case), and the second shows a pretty slick start to the Maw Run. They're in QT5 format, and weigh in at 1.5 mb and 900k, respectively. Check 'em out! (Louis Wu 13:23:40 UTC)

Freewill and Halo - what a pair!
Major updates at Bungie's websites: Truth and Reconciliation's Legendary Walkthrough has gotten a second chapter (with some GORGEOUS screenshots, thanks to Mordia), and the Seventh Column has a monster interview with bungie.org's own Miguel Chavez, Bungie's Number One Fan. Check 'em out! (Louis Wu 04:03:15 UTC)

Reading is Fundamental
Continued Fan Fiction submissions - Jehkoh sends in another poem ('Death of a Soldier'), and Tursas ramps up again with a new series - 'Effusion'. (This one's a bit... odd. Has me wondering where it's going. :) Spoilers, though, for anyone who hasn't finished Halo.) Check 'em out! (Louis Wu 11:36:47 UTC)

Tricky halo players show off
Sorry for the downtime, folks - the telco people are doing their best to fix a long-standing problem with our internet connection. I took advantage of the lull to put up another pair of tricks in our Gameplay Tricks section. No real spoilers here - one is multiplayer, the other is just fun. Check 'em out! What programmers write when nobody looks
Heh - the digging has started. Someone hacked around with their Halo disc, and found some interesting strings buried deep in the code - check 'em out. Evidence that cheats ONCE existed, at least... and some pretty funny (if colorful) error language. Definitely PG-rated for strong language. Thanks to Ray Rose for the heads-up on our forum! AreaHalo opens its doors
Divender writes to let us know that AreaHalo, a new German Halo site, has come online. Nice design (not NS4-friendly, but then, what is?), some GREAT wallpaper, high-quality content. Check 'em out! (Louis Wu 18:15:52 UTC)

Things you just shouldn't be able to do
Three new tricks from Frogblast - all from Assault on the Control Room. He's placed Warthogs just about everywhere on the level a human can go... and he and Mr. Pinchy showed how to swap Banshees in midair. Whoa. Check 'em out in our Gameplay Tricks section. (Louis Wu 18:10:04 UTC)

Things most sane people wouldn't try
Three more cool feats for you - from two of the most productive teams around. Metafire (with able direction from Legolas) gets down to the bottom of the second Shaft on Silent Cartographer; Eleet Ops Faction rides a pelican to its final resting place, and Metafire (again) surfs a sentinel outside the crashed Pillar of Autumn. Check 'em out in our Gameplay Tricks section! (Louis Wu 03:26:22 UTC)

Bene, bene...
Hehe - Bungie's Tru7h and Reconciliation site has been updated - the Gallery contains clips from 6 different foreign-language builds of Halo (well, 5 plus English, for comparison), as well as new Storyboards of the final scene. (The quality of the translations seems to vary pretty widely - or maybe it's the voice acting; some seem very much in character, while others...) Check 'em out! (Louis Wu 01:57:38 UTC)

Cleanin' out the Wallpaper inbox
Two new desktop images for your perusing pleasure: ZMAN sends in a white-themed Halo image, and Germain Couët drops off another one of his very attractive Halo murals. (You'll need a pretty massive monitor to appreciate this...) Check 'em out in our Wallpaper section! (Louis Wu 22:27:25 UTC)

The REST of the new TandR content
DOH! SO enthralled was I by the McLees interview that I missed the OTHER new stuff - Rob's artwork is on display in the Weapons Gallery, and a seventh page has been added to the Concept Art section (MAJOR story spoilers). Check 'em out! (There's some serious Story Page fodder in there, actually...) (Louis Wu 22:31:39 UTC)

4 new Tricks collections
Metafire, aka Frogblast on our forum, has given us permission to mirror some of the tricks found on his Exploration pages. We've added four new collections to our Gameplay Tricks section - an illustration of a climbing route up Silent Cartographer (not requiring explosives), a route out of Truth and Reconciliation, and a pair of Assault narratives. Check 'em out on the Gameplay Tricks page! (Louis Wu 22:54:56 UTC)

BungieColor, indeed
Kaworu Nagisa submits a gorgeous pair of images for use as wallpaper - they're actually a bit small for my desktop, but they're both really nicely done. Check 'em out in our Wallpaper section. (Louis Wu 14:14:50 UTC)

Easier-to-find tricks
The Gameplay Tricks are pouring in... and the collection was getting pretty hard to navigate. We've made it a bit neater, hopefully easier to find what you're looking for... and we've added three new collections. (All are mirrors of the creators' collections elsewhere... but we're hoping this becomes the central repository for this sort of thing - it makes it much easier to compare techniques if you don't have to hunt all over the net.) You might notice, as well, the link to the One-Shots page... this, hopefully, is coming soon. Thanks to Cal and Aaron Suhr for this evening's submissions - go check 'em out! (Louis Wu 03:39:23 UTC)
