Art of Theo Prins Updated
We've got two new images for you today from Theo Prins - "Into the Blue" is an interpretation of a Helljumper (funky mask!), and "Master Dodge" came from the ending of the E3 2003 trailer - originally it was going to contain the ghost the MC jumped out of, but Theo changed his mind. (Interesting, to me, how close this is to the Return to Sender cutscene - totally different situation, but same dramatic pose; I never noticed before that Bungie did this.) Check 'em out - this guy is GOOD. (Louis Wu 15:32:41 UTC)

Connection issues, and Halo Nation Podcast
Wow. So for those who didn't notice, the internet broke yesterday. Two of the big boys (Cogent and Level 3) had a falling-out... and much traffic was blocked from getting where it needed to get. If you want to know more about this situation, you can read this Slashdot article (and its comments). Some people STILL can't get here. Anyway, that's by way of explanation for why today's news is coming so late - I couldn't get here myself until a few minutes ago. So: first up, there's ANOTHER Halo-based podcast, Halo Nation... they're already up to episode 3. This episode is just under an hour, and weighs in at 43 mb. Check 'em out! (Louis Wu 13:00:47 UTC)

Splode
Dustin wrote to tell us about Splode, a new apparel site that caters to gamers; one of their offerings is directly Halo-related. They're also offering an HBO-only discount; enter 'hbo1' (no quotes, and it's case-sensitive) in the promotion code box, and you'll receive 15% off that item. Go check 'em out! You shake a mean lip, Marine.
Captain Spark uploaded a couple of batches of dialogue snippets today. (One is huge.) You can find them both on his website, in zip files... or you can browse through them in our Dialogue Databank; there was a batch dated September 10 and another one dated September 15. Check 'em out! Legomania
It's been a few months since we last mentioned Saber-Scorpion's Halo-based Lego stuff... but he hasn't been idle. xyc0n noticed a bunch of new minifigs at Brickshelf - check 'em out! (To be fair, Bungie's agdTinMan pointed out one of them on a random blog last week, but I never got around to front-paging it.) (Louis Wu 15:09:46 UTC)

SMGs For Sale
GAH! This came in a couple of nights ago - I lost it in the rush of mail. Richie's Armor has created a pair of resin-cast SMGs, for sale on eBay - starting bid is just under $150, there are still 5 days left on the auction. They look great - check 'em out! (Louis Wu 13:17:42 UTC)

5 Easy Pieces
In an uncharacteristic move, I'm emptying the Miscellaneous Art queue when it's almost brand-new - there are a few really spectacular pieces waiting to be seen, and one was overlooked for several weeks, accidentally. Go check 'em out - and I hope you're as impressed as I was! (Louis Wu 20:45:39 UTC)

MacOSX Halo Screensavers
Edwin Davis wrote to say he's got some Halo screensavers up on his site - these work with MacOSX 10.4 (Tiger). One is our news feed, on your desktop... the other is flying Halo logos! Check 'em out. (These are pretty cool - but be warned, if you're running a monitor off a PCI card, all you'll get is a black screen and 'Quartz Composer' running around it - I guess these need the video bandwidth of an AGP connection.) Trautmann Roundup
A couple of interesting entries in Eric Trautmann's weblog - thanks for notice goes to Rampancy.net. Trautmann's 'The Art of Halo' made the Locus best-selling Gaming-Related Books list this month - it joins all three Halo novels on the top-5 list. (Locus is a big science fiction/fantasy mag.) And Ross Mills asked 5 questions which Eric answered - the first is an interesting discussion of game stories (and where Halo fits). Check 'em out! (Louis Wu 11:55:57 UTC)
