It's a day for modeling
bentllama, Bungie animator and pancake lover, spent a bunch of time being helpful today. He pointed out a few things about Wraith's Assault Boat - and then he pointed out a link to a thread on the CGTalk forum, with some really good advice for up-and-coming modelers (and even those who've been around a while). You never know when you're gonna get a helping hand from a Bungie employee... (Louis Wu 00:42:37 UTC)

The Llama Speaks
bentllama, the Bungie animator and master of offtopic bizarreness on our forum, sent along a cool link to the CGTalk forum, in which he posted some preliminary (non-Bungie) work on some 3D models of Wonderboy in Monsterland, an old platformer that got released on many, many consoles. (Here are a pair of Commodore64 shots.) With all the time he has to post about pancakes on our forum, and slick models like this one, you wonder how he's getting those Halo 2 animations finished... can we blame that Fall 2004 date on him? Encrushenating? Encrushenating!
Frankie takes a break from the humilia..er, fun that the Winter Pentathalon certainly must be to post an article on Bungie.Net elaborating on recent Halo sales figures. Four million. That's a whole lot of pancakes. (mnemesis 01:23:22 UTC)

One Hundred
Astounding as it may seem, Stuntmutt's One One Se7en comic has made it to 100. That is - not including Sunday strips, Holiday strips, Archive strips, or Guest strips, there have now been 100 strips presented to you, the public, since April of this year. Wonga. To celebrate, MC gets a cake. (Be sure your computer's not muted.) (Louis Wu 16:30:44 UTC)

343 Candles
The Hushed Casket had a one-year birthday... and they celebrated with a lan party and a cake. Pretty cool cake, too! Check out the pics! (Then chime into the forum thread.) (Louis Wu 02:14:28 UTC)

We Grew Up Fast
The Juggler has sent in a new hacking movie - in the vein of BOLL's movies, but full of footage not seen before. Some pretty cool stuff. I think it's unlikely we'll be posting any MORE of this type of movie - but this one is definitely worth watching. Timing is great, and the music choice fits very well. It's available as a 480x360 QuickTime .mov, weighing in at just around 40 mb. We'd love mirrors; files.bungie.org won't be able to serve it alone. Update: The Juggler has got a copy of the movie on his own site, as well. Further Update: It's now mirrored at Rampancy.net, as well. (Louis Wu 08:46:44 UTC)

Next one who dies...
You gotta love the hardcore fans... a couple of days ago, ElectricSheep said he thought the Admiral in the trailer sounded a lot like Pete Stacker (who provided the voice of Captain Keyes in Halo). dolbex, too, noticed this - and was bothered by it. Didn't we kill Keyes? (I sorta remember putting a fist through his brain...) Today, Marty O'Donnell cleared up the mystery - yes, it's Pete Stacker, but no, it's not Keyes.

Also, yes Pete Stacker was hired as the voice of the Admiral (no name) but he has nothing to do with Captain Keyes. Although I was concerned about the potential for fan confusion, Joe had the basic attitude of "let them eat cake", an attitude that shocks and appalls me. I guess he figured that only the most intense Halo fans would notice and Pete is a slam dunk when it comes to actors.

I must say, I'm shocked and appalled, as well - I say we storm the Bungie ramparts and chop off Joe's head! Who's with me? ... Wait, that would mean no more Sin-O-MatiXXX goodness... never mind. Anyway, mystery solved, and kudos to those who pinned that voice down. (Louis Wu 21:01:44 UTC)

Halo selling like hotcakes in EU
Thanks to Nick Rolfe, who sent along this link from the European Leisure Software Publishers Association - for the week ending 16th March 2002, Halo was second in total software sales of ALL games, in ALL formats; this is astounding, given that it was released 2 days before the week ended. Not too shabby! (Louis Wu 06:45:57 UTC)
