Normally if you press 'Y' to switch your weapon, you have to lower the weapon, then bring up the new one, but as anyone who can 'sword cancel' will know pressing x can cancel virtually anything. So if you need to bring out that sword extra quickly (or any weapon) quickly press 'X' after 'Y' and you will have half the animation time while changing!
