I've read a lot of other pe EnemyElites %Fighting Covenant for Dummies: Elites07/17/02
2125 a@FFF? ht methodically, which often means slow and stealthy. With the practice, I've actually found playing on Heroic Mode now to be easier than the first time I played on Normal. I'm not the best at FPSs (a supreme understatement), so these strategies are really for my brothers and sisters that just don't have the knack for this kind of thing but still want to play.
Blue Elite: Suckers for a punch in the face. Use supression fire to wear down the over shield until you get close, then just smack 'em around. AR is the best for melee attacks since it allows the quickest jabs. This is important, because an Elite's recovery time i s just long enough for you to step in again and deliver another jab.
Red Elite: The guys I find the biggest nuisance, they're harder to beat at melee and are damn good shots. My best strategies are medium range with the pistol or extreme long range with grenades (from behind cover of course). If you see one in a group of Covenant, take him out first. Generally, treat the Red like he's a Gold.
Silver Elite: Almost always have visiblity cloaking, which makes them a pain in the ass. However, the slight ripple is enough to give away where the head is and a sniper bullet between the eyes will always drop 'em. Sweeping with the AR, Needler, or Plasma Rifle is a good way to find their position when they're sneaking around you. Once you know where they are, automatic fire from any of those three weapons will take a Silver down pretty quick.
Gold Elite: Jumps far, swings a one-hit-kill energy sword, and can take up to 2 or 3 sniper bullets in the face! Even worse, they sometimes have visibility cloaking (like in T&R). Backing away and planting a plasma grenade is a good strategy, as supression fire wit h the AR is great for slowing them down enough to stay out of range of their energy sword. Since they're often encounted in confined quarters, try bouncing grenades off the wall (like against the one at the end of SC) when they don't see you for a free h it before moving in with heavier weapons. But as a general rule, more distance from a Gold equals longer life for Master Chief.
