I would say yes, given the hints such as Cortana's letters and the Marathon symbol being hidden inside the Halo logo. I think Halo takes place in the Marathon world. But if so, when? Some people have suggested that the player in Halo is the same as the one in Marathon. Probably not, since at the end of M2 he is a servant of Durandal's (who doesn't come in contact with humanity for 10,000 years after that). Or after MInfinity, he is set free, but has gone through some sort of transformation into a being far different that your average Mjolnir Mark IV Cyborg. However, there are other cyborgs than the ten that were aboard the Marathon. "...Of course, any nation that used them for the allowed purpose, also had them lying about in stasis chambers in case of war..." -Beware of Low-Flying Defense Drones A war against the Covenant? We know that cyborgs are used in Halo. Are they the same cyborgs that were stored in "case of war?" Also, the Marathon 2 final screen may give a slight clue as to the time setting of Halo. "The Pfhor were but a dim memory...known only to a few historians and students of Earth's second colonial period." -M2 final screen Second colonial period? Was the first the expansion into our own solar system, or maybe was it the expansion out onto the colony worlds that the Covenant has been wiping out? Either explanation may work. But the tru7h is out there. Back to the Theories page |
