One-of-a-kind truck comes up for sale
Whoa. Remember that Halo Ford Raptor that was given away last year, as the top prize in the Infinity Challenge? Strongside won it, and took ownership in January... but apparently it's up for sale right now, for $200,000. GDC Vault Frees Up Bungie Design Talks
The 2010 Game Developer Conference contained a talk by Jaime Griesemer in which he described why the time between shots for the Halo 3 sniper rifle was increased from 0.5 to 0.7 seconds - and right after the event, Bungie released his slides in their Publications archive. (Unfortunately, that archive seems to be offline at this point; we've put up a local copy of the file, but we can't reproduce the entire archive.) The wonderful thing is, Gamasutra has made the video of that talk free - go watch it! (They've also posted a followup, presented at GDC 2011, called 'Design in Detail: Tuning the Muzzle Velocity of the Plasma Rifle Bolt on Legendary Difficulty Across the Halo Franchise' - watch both!) Update: I completely forgot about the halo.bungie.net subdomain; kornman00 reminded me, and clarified that the Publications archive IS, in fact, still online at B.net. Yay! Buy a Master Chief Sculpt for Christmas
Jason Evans has been casting sculpts of Master Chief for a few years now - I bought a couple from his 2011 series. This summer, he posted pics of a Halo 4 version - and he's back, with a Facebook page that you can use to buy a new version that will be shipping in time for Christmas. Spartan Assault Achievements - for console versions
Interesting. Halo Waypoint has posted the Spartan Assault Achievements for the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One - and they're different. I was looking over the early votes for this year's Guilt O' Lantern contest, and I noticed a disturbing trend. There are quite a number of people who are coming in and voting for just a single pumpkin. Now one of the submitters asked if there were any rules about asking their friends to vote for them, and I said that there weren't - but I'd hope that ANYONE voting for pumpkins would be willing to look at the entire field. You have 5 votes - use 'em! By all means, cast a vote for your buddy - but realize that there are other prizes, and other worthwhile pumpkins... participate fully, rather than simply casting a single vote and walking away! Halo 4 Mythic Difficulty Guide - Epilogue
The Tyrant has wrapped up his Halo 4 Mythic Guide with an epilogue that includes a video that's more than 6 hours long! It contains a runthrough of the entire game, start to finish (minus the blind skull) - and incorporates all cutscenes, terminals, and the ten existing episodes of Spartan Ops. The UNSC Makes an Appearance on Chinese Military Show
Kotaku ran a story about the Chinese military show, 'New Defense Observations'. According to the article the October 19th episode had a segment on "smart armor", where both the Master Chief and a UNSC Marine were used as examples of U.S. military concept armor.
