 Shocked! 11.11.01  |  9:02am - Peters

First off, is it me or is Chicago a dry town after 9:00 PM? I couldn't even get a beer in Union Station! I won't bore you with how great the game is (probably the best I have ever played), but I will say I was taken by surprise by how compelling the 16 player games were. "Shocked" even! The control is dead on and the aiming assist is very nonintrusive. Some console FPS have that aiming assist that takes your aiming recticle and flicks it over an inch, very distracting! Halo kinda pulls you ever so slightly, which makes playing with a controller GREAT!

Speaking of controllers, there were 2 broke during the event...hmmm? The televisions were Sony 19" to 27" Trinitrons and the sound was either tv speakers or cheap little Walkman external speakers, AND IT STILL LOOKED AND SOUNDED F'n GREAT! Imagine what Halo will look like on a Wega 32" and what it will sound like on 5.1!

What I learned:
1. Split screen is good, no...GREAT!
2. Framerate: 1 player = GREAT, >1 player = FINE!3. Fans were very nice people.
4. Load times? What load times?
5. Lighting during a night level was amazing!
6. Wisconsin cheese WILL get you bound up!
7. My name tags were not all handed out! Levi where are you?

How many days till launch?

Update: I forgot to mention how impressive the texture mapping was. Very fine detail. Did I mention draw in distance? No longer a factor.

Pictures later!
